An absorbent article having a liquid permeable top layer, a liquid impermeable leakproof layer, and a liquid retentive absorbent layer interposed between the layers, wherein the absorbent layer has an odor-controlling member containing (a) 20 to 80% by weight of specific hydrophilic fiber or hydrophilic foam and (b) an odor-controlling agent, the odor-controlling memberbeing composed of a layer made up of a mutually dispersing mixture of component (a) and component (b) or being composed of adjacent layers separately comprising component (a) and component (b).

Absorbent article

An absorbent article includes a liquid-permeable top layer, a liquid-impermeable back layer, and a liquid retentive absorbent member, interposed between the top layer and the back layer. The absorbent member is arranged to form an opposing pair of barrier cuffs which are within longitudinal edges of the top layer and extend along the longitudinal edges. A pocket portion is formed between the pair of barrier cuffs.

A sheet which gives an absorbent article improved recovery from distortion is disclosed. The sheet has a recovery force of 0.7 cN or more in the cross direction, a compressive strength of 100 cN or less, and a basis weight of 20 g/mor more.

A deodorizing absorbent sheet having a water-insoluble deodorizer and an absorbent polymer which are embedded in a fiber web, wherein the absorbent polymer is fixed to the fibers making up the fiber web. The deodorizer is fixed inside the fiber web via the absorbent polymer. The deodorizer and absorbent polymer are substantially absent on the surface of the absorbent sheet.

An absorbent member in an absorbent article comprises a absorbent polymer and cellulose fibers. The absorbent polymer has a centrifugal retentive capacity for physiological saline of 30 g/g or more and a permeation rate of physiological saline of 10 ml/minute or more. The cellulose fibers are crosslinked cellulose fibers obtainable by an intramolecular and/or intermolecular crosslinking of the cellulose fibers. Particularly, an absorbent member in a sanitary napkin has a centrifugal retentive capacity of pseudo-blood of 30 g or more and a permeation rate of pseudo-blood of 50 ml/minute or more. Also, a topsheet in the absorbent article comprises a liquid-permeable sheet, which comprises at least a layer in contact with a user's skin and a layer not in contact with the user's skin, the layers being overlaid and combined with each other into a unitary body. The layer in contact with the user's skin comprises a porous film of a thermoplastic resin or a nonwoven fabric of synthetic fibers. The layer not in contact with the user's skin comprises an absorbent sheet, which comprises at least bulky cellulose fibers. The absorbent member and the topsheet should preferably comprise crosslinked cellulose fibers.
