A control circuit generates a right-turn or left-turn signal from a direction indicator lamp based on a direction indicating signal from a turn signal switch in a scooter as a vehicle. The control circuit then calculates a turning angle of the scooter from an angular speed V of the scooter detected by an angular speed sensor, and cancels the turn signal generated from the direction indicator lamp on the condition that the turning angle be equal to or greater than a reference turning angle, that a vehicle speed N detected by a vehicle speed sensor be equal to or higher than a reference vehicle speed, and that the angular speed detected by the angular speed sensor be equal to or lower than a reference angular speed. Accordingly, even when the scooter is waiting to make a right or left turn at an intersection with a turning angle equal to or greater than the reference turning angle and an angular speed V equal to or lower than the reference angular speed, the vehicle speed N does not become equal to or higher than the reference vehicle speed (the vehicle speed is actually zero). Therefore, the turn signal is prevented from being canceled unnecessarily.

Turn-signal automatic cancellation apparatus

A method and apparatus are provided for reliably detecting a touch operation in a touch sensitive control surface, despite the influence of light or the existence of an obstruction. In the touch tracer, LEDs and phototransistors for detecting a touch position on the input pad are arranged to form parallel optical axes in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction. The optical axes of the LEDs and the phototransistors are alternately arranged in opposite directions to the adjacent optical axis. Moreover, the front surface of the phototransistor is closed except for an aperture that forms an optical axis only between opposing LEDs. The apertures are divided in half into top and bottom portions by a light-shielding film. Because of the light-shielding film, the phototransistor does not receive any light interference from the adjacent LED or incidental sunlight.

Touch operation signal output device

A display device is disposed in a car and a display screen is switched based upon coordinate data showing the touched position which is output from a touch tracer which is disposed where it can be accessed by a driver, and &ldquo;on&rdquo; data that shows that the touch tracer has been press-operated. The display device displays small button display portions to select a next display operation which is to be displayed on the map screen. The button display portions which are shown on the map screen in an input state of the coordinate data from the touch tracer are displayed in an expanded state. By so doing, the driver can easily confirm the display content of the button display portions so that it is possible to improve the operability of the touch tracer for the selection of the button display portions.

Display apparatus

A touch operation information output apparatus is provided in a position at which a driver can operate it, and detects a touched position with respect to the input pad and outputs its coordinate data to the display device. Here, protruding brackets are provided at 16 positions on the input pad. A first group of protruding brackets that are in 4 positions at a center of the input pad are formed in a &ldquo;&plus;&rdquo; shape, a second group of protruding brackets that are in four corners of the input pad are formed in an &ldquo;L&rdquo; shape and a third group of protruding brackets are formed in a &ldquo;T&rdquo; shape. Because of this, the driver can recognize the touched position with respect to the touch operation information output apparatus and blind operation becomes possible.

Touch operation information output device

A shift lock apparatus which allows a shift interlock wire and a key interlock wire to be arranged more effectively and neatly within the vehicle body. A lock pin engages with a first engagement portion perpendicularly each other. The shift interlock wire is linked with the first engagement portion and moves as a shift lever is locked or unlocked. The lock pin is moved by a brake pedal when the brake pedal is released. When a key inserted into a key cylinder is rotated from an ACC position to a LOCK position, the key interlock wire moves to establish engagement with a second engagement portion. Both wires intersect each other, and also the lock pin and the wire intersect each other, thereby providing secure operation and a shorter and neater layout of wires when a housing is installed within the interior of the vehicle.

Mechanical shift lock apparatus, and lock mechanism and wire structure

A steering lock apparatus of the type that a lock bar moving along the guide section of a lock body is protruded toward the steering shaft for locking, has a device for cooperating with the guide section to regulate the protrusion of the lock bar towards the steering shaft when the lock bar is accidentally released.

The present invention is directed to a shift locking apparatus for blocking a shifting movement unless a special operation is conducted such as the depression of a foot brake by an operator, when a shift lever of an automatic transmission is moved from a specified shift position of a parking 'P' and the like to another shift position, wherein when releasing of the shift lock is conducted by an electrically operated actuator such as a solenoid, the shift lock can be released by use of a key for a vehicle even in a condition where the electrically operated actuator is not used. The operation of a key cylinder by use of the key of the vehicle by the operator causes the shift lock to be released, ensuring that the operator can move the shift lever to any other shift position, thereby permitting the vehicle to be moved even if there is some trouble such as electrical trouble.

Locking apparatus for shift lever of automatic transmission

A device for locking a steering gear having a body with a first cylindrical portion, a second cylindrical portion extending nearly perpendicular from the first cylindrical portion, and a reinforcing member disposed within the second cylindrical portion. The reinforcing member has an inner surface and an outer surface and a bottom portion connected to a tube containing the steering gear. The device also includes a locking bar disposed within the reinforcing member and movable between a locked position for locking the steering gear and an unlocked position to allow the steering gear to rotate, and means for moving the locking bar between the locked position and unlocked position.

In a shift lever locking device for an automatic transmission of column type, a drive cam is turned with a key rotor mounted on a steering column, a shift shaft arranged along the steering column is turned by operating a shift lever so that the automatic transmission is shifted to a plurality of positions, a lock part is formed on the shift shaft, a link mechanism provided movably has at least a lever which is swung to operate in a link mode a drive part confronting with the driving cam of the key rotor and a lock member confronting with the lock part of the shift shaft; and an adjusting mechanism is provided for the lever of the link mechanism to adjust the positional relationships between the driving cam and the drive part and between the lock part and the lock member, whereby the assembling errors are absorbed which may be involved in assembling work.

Shift lever locking device for automatic transmission of column type

A key-operated ignition device which prevents an engine starter from being driven while the engine is already running, so to protect the starter and engine from damage. The device comprises a key-operated rotor disposed in the device for turning a locking cam via a coupling plate to shift an ignition switch between off, on and start positions. A sliding member is selectively movable between first and second positions by a restriction plate, wherein when the sliding member is in the first position the rotor may be turned from the on position to the start position and when the member is in the second position, the rotor is prevented from again turning from the on position to the start position, without first turning to the off position. The restriction plate also prevents the rotor from being directly turned from the off position to a lock position.

Key-operated ignition device

A switch operation indicator is disclosed which comprises a frame fitted with a push-type switch having a drive member which is locked into a pressed-in position by a first pressing action and unlocked to return to an original position by the next pressing action; a push button fitted in the panel of the frame so that the button can be pressed in; a coupling bar which couples the button and the drive member to each other and has an operating notched portion; an indication opening provided in the panel adjacently to the button and an indication member attached to the frame so as to be swung, along with the movement of the bar, to be engaged with or disengaged from the notched portion and is provided with an indicating portion which alternatively faces or does not face the opening as the indication member is swung back and forth by the repeated pressing actions. Alternatives include an optical guiding version and a vibration-clamping version.

Switch operation indicator

A steering locking apparatus for a vehicle is designed in such a way that the rotation of a key rotor located at an unlocking position to a locked position by the rotation of a key is prevented by a restricting lever and the prevention of the rotation of the key rotor is removed by pressing a pressing button so as to allow the key rotor to be rotated to the locked position. In a state wherein the pressing of the pressing button is prevented by operating an electromagnetic solenoid under predetermined conditions and thereby engaging a plunger supported by a plunger of the electromagnetic solenoid with the pressing button, the load applied to the pressing button is received by a car body through the stopper plate. In consequence, no load is exerted on the plunger.

Steering locking apparatus

A cylinder lock including a rotor casing formed with a groove and an elongated through-opening, a rotor rotatably received in the rotor casing, tumblers which are respectively formed with projecting ends engageable with the groove and slidably fitted into the rotor, a tumbler blocking member slidably inserted into the elongated through-opening, a plunger and a plunger driving device. By the above arrangement, the cylinder lock can be positively unlocked either by using a key or without using the key and instead using the plunger driving device and driving the tumbler blocking member.

Cylinder lock

A steering shaft locking device has a locking rotor rotatably mounted in a housing which is key actuated. A movable piece is moved radially outwardly of the rotor when a key is inserted therein, but is free to move inwardly when no key is present. A cam on the end of the rotor moves a lock bar transversely of the rotor against the action of a first spring. A projection on the edge of the lock bar engages one end of a lock shaft for moving it in one rotational direction from a neutral position, at which it is held by a second spring which is weaker than the first spring, and the other end of the lock shaft has a shape such that when it is moved in the one rotational direction, it moves away from the movable piece, and when it is moved in the other direction by the movement of the lock shaft by the first spring, it moves the movable piece, and thus permits the lock bar to move past the one end of the lock shaft.
