An object of the invention is to provide thermo-fusible conjugated fibers capable of suppressing damage to the fibers upon processing the fibers into a nonwoven fabric web. The thermo-fusible conjugated fibers of the invention contain a first component containing a polyester-based resin and a second component containing a polyolefin-based resin, in which a melting point of the second component is 10&#xb0; C. or more lower than a melting point of the first component, and a work load at break obtained by a tensile test is 1.6 cN&#xb7;cm/dtex or more. The damage to the fibers is suppressed by the thermo-fusible conjugated fibers of the invention, and therefore the nonwoven fabric with higher quality can be obtained with higher productivity than ever before.

Thermo-fusible conjugated fibers and nonwoven fabric using same

Provided is a conjugate fiber for air-laid nonwoven fabric manufacture having a planar zig-zag crimp shape before a thermal treatment, such that a uniform web is obtained by air laying with high processability and productivity, and the conjugate fiber develops a spiral crimp when the web is subjected to a thermal treatment to thereby enable the web to shrink significantly, as a result of which a nonwoven fabric can be obtained in which fibers are amassed to a high density. The conjugate fiber for air-laid nonwoven fabric manufacture is a heat-fusible conjugate fiber in which a first component comprising an olefinic thermoplastic resin is conjugated with a second component comprising an olefinic thermoplastic resin having a melting point higher than that of the first component. The conjugate form is such that the centers of gravity of the conjugate components are mutually different in the fiber cross section, the fiber has a single-yarn fineness of 1 to 10 dtex, a fiber length of 3 to 20 mm, and a planar zig-zag crimp whose crimp shape index (actual length of short fiber/distance between both ends of short fiber) ranges from 1.05 to 1.60, and the web shrinkage upon thermal treatment at 145&#xb0; C. of a web obtained by an air-laid method is not lower than 40%.

Conjugate fiber for air-laid nonwoven fabric manufacture and method for manufacturing a high-density air-laid nonwoven fabric

To provide an add-in material to be added to a porous molded body base, the add-in material being capable of developing a pore of appropriate size efficiently without degrading the formability and productivity of a porous molded body, particularly a porous fired body when producing the porous molded body. A shrinkable fiber composed of a thermoplastic resin and to be dispersed in a base of a porous molded body, particularly a porous fired body, wherein the shrinkable fiber has a fiber diameter of 10 to 40 &#x3bc;m, a fiber length of 1 to 20 mm, and a dry-heat shrinkage percentage of at least 8% when subjected to heat treatment at 80&#xb0; C. for 5 minutes.

Shrinkable fiber for porous molded body

There is provided a fiber bundle that strikes an excellent balance between the properties and performance of the resulting web and the finished products obtained from this web, and cost, ease of work, and productivity. There is also provided a method for manufacturing a web using this fiber bundle. There is also provided a web that is uniform and has excellent soft touch and bulkiness. This is achieved by a fiber bundle with a total denier of 10,000 to 500,000 dtex, obtained by bundling thermoplastic, conjugate, continuous fibers that have a single filament denier of 0.5 to 100 dtex/f and in which the center of gravity of conjugate components varies among the conjugate components in a fiber cross section, wherein the thermoplastic, conjugate, continuous fibers that make up the fiber bundle have a spontaneous crimp of 8 to 30 crimps per 2.54 cm, the fiber bundle density as defined by D/(W&#xd7;L) (where Dis the total denier, Wis the fiber bundle width, and Lis the fiber bundle thickness) is 100 to 2000 dtex/mm, and the density ratio by spreading (the web density/fiber bundle density after spreading by drawing to a ratio of 1.6 in a pinch roller spreading machine at a rate of 25 m/min and a fiber bundle temperature of 25&#xb0; C.) is 0.10 or less.

A splittable conjugate fiber comprising a polyester segment and a polyolefin segment, wherein the splittable conjugate fiber comprises two or more parts of the polyester segment extending from a center of the fiber toward an outer edge of the fiber in a cross-sectional configuration perpendicular to its longitudinal direction, in which at least one of the two or more parts of the polyester segment extending from the center of the fiber toward the outer edge of the fiber is exposed at the outer edge of the fiber and at least one of the two or more parts of the polyester segment extending from the center of the fiber toward the outer edge of the fiber is unexposed at the outer edge of the fiber.

Splittable conjugate fiber, aggregate thereof, and fibrous form made from splittable conjugate fibers

To obtain an ultrafine heat-shrinkable conjugate fiber at high productivity, in which a flow-drawing state of a polyester undrawn yarn is realized easily and stably. By drawing undrawn yarn comprising a conjugated polyester polymer and olefin polymer, a flow-drawing process can be easily and stably realized using conventional production facilities; and the heat-shrinkable fiber, a drawn intermediate, and an ultrafine hot-melt adhesive conjugate fiber produced by redrawing the drawn intermediate of the present invention can be obtained with high productivity and excellent runnability. More specifically, the ultrafine hot-melt adhesive conjugate fiber obtained by redrawing can be drawn at a heretofore unseen high drawing magnification, and the fiber structure of the olefin polymer constituting part of the conjugate fiber is markedly developed. The heat-shrinkable fiber and ultrafine hot-melt adhesive conjugate fiber thus obtained can be suitably used in hygiene products and industrial materials by utilizing these features.
