The present invention provides a structure that is effective in providing a robot with appropriate warmth. A robot includes a frame, a surface skin that covers the frame, a heat source that heats a fluid, and a pressurizing unit that pressurizes a space enclosed by the frame. A heated fluid flows out from the space owing to the space being pressurized. A fluid layer is formed on an inner side of the surface skin covering the frame by the fluid that has flowed out from the space.

A compressed air production facility that reduces an extension cost without stopping an operating air compressor in a case of increasing the number of air compressors to cope with an increase in demands for compressed air is provided. A robot of one aspect includes a soft outer skin mounted so as to cover a first region (for example, a head portion) and a second region (for example, a trunk portion). The outer skin includes a base material having elasticity. A joint structure is used in connecting a first region and a second region of a robot. The joint structure includes a first member provided in the first region, a second member provided in the second region and having an engagement face that engages with the first member, and a coupling mechanism that causes a coupling force of the first member and the second member to be utilized to the full so that an engaged state of the first member and the second member is maintained. The coupling mechanism breaks the engaged state when a relative displacement of the first member and the second member from the engaged state exceeds a predetermined amount.

A system for use with communications according to TCP, or a similar protocol, includes a sender host, one or more routers, and a destination host. Each router includes means for generating acknowledgement packets and translating addresses associated with data packets. When a data packet is received by a router, an acknowledgement packet is returned with a source address corresponding to the router and a destination address corresponding to the sender host. The sender host perceives the acknowledgement packet as having been sent by the destination host. As the acknowledgment packet is sent by the router, and not the destination packet is sent by the router, and not the destination host, this system allows acknowledgment packets to be received on a shorter timescale, reducing the effects of a link delay. Although the route between the sender host and the destination host is divided into multiple connections, the hosts perceive a single, conventional connection.
