A method for machining a workpiece, includes: rotating a rotary tool around a rotation axis, the rotary tool including at least one edge positioned on an outer periphery of the rotary tool around the rotation axis; relatively moving the rotary tool toward the workpiece in a first direction so that the at least one edge cuts the workpiece by a predetermined depth while the rotary tool is rotated around the rotation axis; and relatively moving the rotary tool with respect to the workpiece in a second direction that is substantially perpendicular to the first direction and that is inclined to a third direction substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis and the first direction.

Method for machining workpiece and machine tool

The invention provides a vertical turret lathe capable of preventing an inner diameter turning tool attached to a turret tool rest from interfering with a workpiece during machining of the outer diameter of the workpiece. The vertical turret lathe comprises a work table that holds a workpiece Wand rotates, and a working headhaving a turret tool restand capable of moving in X-axis and Z-axis directions. A tool holderfor holding an inner diameter turning tool Tvia hydraulic pressure is attached to a part of the tool supporting portionsof the turret tool rest. Vertical turret lathe

A turning tool is arranged at a tool spindle () of a composite working lathe () to improve working efficiency. A composite working lathe () includes a first workpiece headstock () placed on a bed (). A chuck () of a workpiece spindle () is rotated as holding a workpiece (K.sub.). A tool headstock () arranged at a carriage () is rotated about B-axis while being linearly moved in the directions of X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. The tool headstock () operates a mill tool () and includes a comb-shaped cutting tool rest () having turning tools attached at the opposite side of a housing in a comb-shaped manner, so that turning processing can be performed with tool indexing in a short time.

Composite working lathe

The present invention aims at improving the efficiency of tool management by improving the arrangement of a tool magazine in a composite working lathe. The composite working latheincludes a spindle stock and a tool spindle disposed on a bed, and a covercovering the surrounding area thereof. A doorallowing access to a machining portion is provided on a front side F of the machine, and the machining portion can be visually observed through a window. A tool magazine unitis disposed in front of the spindle stock of the machine. A doorand a windoware provided on the cover of the tool magazine unit, allowing operators to observe the tool stored in the magazine through windowsand. The present composite working lathe enables to improve the efficiency of tool management, such as the confirmation of the tool used in the subsequent step or the removal of chips on the used tool.

The invention provides a composite working lathe capable of improving the efficiency of workpiece machining area by arranging a workpiece handling device below a spindle of the composite working lathe. The composite working lathecomprises a spindleand a tool spindleon a bed. A workpiece handling devicearranged below the spindlecan be moved along a W axis parallel to the axis line Cof the spindle. A machining unit that is supported on a machine tool and machines a workpiece by a revolving tool with a main spindle section being driven and rotated includes an eccentric rotational section, a tool holder, a tool revolution-radius changing mechanism, and a cutting-edge-orientation correcting mechanism. The eccentric rotational section is disposed on the main spindle section, and is rotatable about an eccentric axis that is located eccentrically at any distance in a radial direction of the main spindle section from a rotation center of the main spindle section. The tool holder is disposed on the eccentric rotational section, and supports the tool. The tool revolution-radius changing mechanism moves the tool in the radial direction, and changes the radius of the revolution of the tool by rotating the eccentric rotational section about the eccentric axis. The cutting-edge-orientation correcting mechanism corrects the orientation of a cutting edge of the tool by making the tool holder spin about an axis of the tool holder, the axis being parallel to the rotation center of the main spindle section.
