[Object] To provide a joining method for dissimilar metals which are magnesium alloy and steel and difficult to be metallurgically directly joined to each other while oxide film is present at a joining surface. [Solving Means] In order to join magnesium alloy materialand steel plateto each other, a galvanized steel plate to which Zn&#x2014;Al&#x2014;Mg alloy plating (a third material) is applied is used as the steel plate. When joining is made, ternary eutectic melting of Al&#x2014;Mg&#x2014;Zn is caused, so that it is discharged together with oxide filmand impurities from the joining interface while Al&#x2014;Mg intermetallic compound such as AlMgand Fe&#x2014;Al intermetallic compound such as FeAlare formed, thereby joining the newly generated surfaces of the magnesium alloy materialand the steel plateto each other through a compound layercontaining these intermetallic compounds.

Dissimilar metal joining method for magnesium alloy and steel

In joining a magnesium alloy material(first material) and a steel material (second material), a zinc-plated steel plateplated with zinc (metal C) is used as a steel material, Al (metal D) is added to the magnesium alloy material. Next, eutectic melting of Mg and Zn is caused so as to remove a product produced by the eutectic melting with an oxide filmand impurities from a joint interface. Moreover, an Al&#x2014;Mg system intermetallic compound such as AlMgand an Fe&#x2014;Al system intermetallic compound such as FeAlare produced, whereby regenerated surfaces of both materialsandare joined via a compound layercontaining those intermetallic compounds.

Joining method and joint structure of dissimilar metal

A method of bonding dissimilar metals, a bonding structure formed by such a method and a bonding apparatus for performing such a method. The resulting bond is capable of preventing corrosion (e.g., electric corrosion) resulting from contact of the dissimilar metals and obtains a dissimilar material joint exhibiting anti-corrosive property and bonding strength at low costs. The method includes overlapping two materials made from dissimilar metals having a seal material interposed therebetween and discharging the seal material from a bonding interface and bonding the two materials in direct contact with each other.

According to a metal joining method of the present invention, first and second dissimilar metals are joined together by interposing between the first and second metal materials a third metal material dissimilar to the first and second metal materials and causing eutectic melting at least either at an interface between the first and third metal materials or at an interface between the second and third metal materials.

Dissimilar metal joining method

A method of joining dissimilar materials of the present invention has a step of lapping a high melting point material on a low melting point material with a third material interposed therebetween. The third material is different from the high and low melting point materials. Further, the method has a step of irradiating an energy beam onto the high melting point material and a step of pressing the high and low melting point materials to cause eutectic melting between at least one of the high and low melting point materials and the third material and to join the high and low melting point materials in the form of a line.
