Provided is a filter for removing a sulfur-containing-gas (), which removes the sulfur-containing-gas by being brought into contact with the sulfur-containing-gas in a gas flow path, the filter including a former filter () disposed on an upstream side of the gas flow path, and a latter filter () disposed on a downstream side of the gas flow path, wherein the former filter () includes a first material for removing a sulfur-containing-gas, the first material including a porous support, and iodine which is supported on the porous support, and is produced by catalytic pyrolysis of ammonium iodide at a thermal decomposition ratio of 80% or more by use of the porous support as a catalyst, and the latter filter () includes a second material for removing a sulfur-containing-gas, the second material including an activated carbon fiber, and an alkali component which is supported on the activated carbon fiber.

A fuel vapor adsorbing device () for adsorbing residual fuel vapors that remain in an intake conduit () of an induction system of an internal combustion engine when the internal combustion engine is stopped may include an adsorbing member (') that is constructed to adsorb the residual fuel vapors and is disposed along an inner wall surface of the intake conduit. The adsorbing member is arranged and constructed to form a supplemental intake path (T, T&#x2032;, T&#x2032;&#x2033;) between the adsorbing member and the inner wall surface of the intake conduit, so that intake air of the engine can flow through the supplemental intake path.

Evaporative fuel adsorption device

A shut off valve is provided in an intake line farther upstream than a throttle valve of the intake passage and farther downstream than an air cleaner. This shut off valve is opened by a signal or the like from an ECU when an engine is operating. Further, the shut off valve closes when the engine is stopped so as to suppress evaporative fuel inside the intake passage from flowing outside through the air cleaner. The evaporative fuel trapped inside the intake passage passes through a bypass passage that provides communication between the intake passage and the canister, and is then adsorbed with an adsorbent in the canister. A blow-by passage is also connected to the intake passage that is closed off by the shut off valve. Because the blow-by passage is closed off by a blow-by valve, which is closed during normal operation when the engine is stopped, sticking of the shut off valve and the throttle valve and the like due to the inflow of blow-by gas into the intake passage is inhibited.

Evaporation fuel processing unit

A filter portion of a filter includes a plurality of bag-like members. The bag-like members are formed in a container shape having an opening and disposed with intervals therebetween. The periphery of the opening of each bag-like member is supported by a supporting member, and the bag-like members are mutually connected by the supporting member. Consequently, the strength of the filter portion comprising the bag-like members is improved.

Filter and manufacturing method thereof

An absorbent, such as, for example, an active carbon, is provided in an intake air passage, for example, in an air cleaner, to efficiently adsorb fuel vapor. To ensure that fuel vapor adsorbed into the intake air passage can be efficiently desorbed even when there is only a small amount of the intake air, an intake throttle valve is provided upstream of the adsorbent and an opening of the intake throttle valve is throttled so as to decompress an area near the adsorbent. Desorption of fuel vapor also can be efficiently promoted by using a heater to directly heat the adsorbent in the intake air passage or by heating the intake air to indirectly heat the adsorbent.

A filter medium has a function member accommodated between two fiber layers. A production method for manufacturing a filter medium includes the steps of: preparing a first fiber layer having a shape identical to that of a side surface of the filter medium; disposing a function member on a surface of the first fiber layer; and forming a second fiber layer by spinning partially melted fibers onto the function member disposed on the surface of the first fiber layer. Therefore, it is unnecessary to carry out press-forming in a state in which the function member is sandwiched between nonwoven fabrics, and a countermeasure to prevent the function member from falling out and a countermeasure to prevent the nonwoven fabric from being torn by the function member are unnecessary.

Filter medium and production method thereof

An air filter is substantially made up of a filter element having a pleated filtering portion and a collar portion that extends on an outer periphery of the filtering portion and that has a sealing function, the filtering portion and the collar portion being integrally formed from the same material, and a cap and a case each of which has a flange for clamping the collar portion of the filter element. One of the flange of the cap and the flange of the case has a protruded portion that has an inclined portion. The collar portion of the filter element has a recess portion that contacts the inclined portion of the protruded portion and is guided by the inclined portion and fits to the protruded portion at a predetermined position so as to become set in position.

Air filter

A filter element made of nonwoven filter fabric includes a plurality of pleated portions and a flange portion formed integrally with the filter portion. The flange portion is formed by a pair of press-forming dies to have a thin and compressed connecting portion formed along the outer periphery of the filter portion, a thick and uncompressed seal portion formed along the outer periphery of the connecting portion and a thin and compressed protecting portion formed along the outer periphery of the seal portion.

A filter element for an air cleaner including a sheet-like filter medium for purifying air when the air is transferred from one side to the other side of the filter medium, a frame member having a flange confining the filter medium and a side wall formed on the flange, and a fibrous mat having cushioning effect. The filter medium is folded in a sawtooth-shaped pattern and extends along a plane. The filter medium has a base contour contained in the plane and has a sawtooth-shaped peripheral edge section extending along a part of the base contour. The flange outwardly projects from the frame. The side wall is airtightly bonded to the sawtooth-shaped peripheral edge section of the filter medium. The mat continuously extends along the base contour and is fixedly bonded to a surface of the flange facing the other side of the filter medium.

Filter element for air cleaner and method of manufacturing the same

A supporting structure for supporting an air-cleaner assembly on a throttle body of an internal combustion engine provided with a fuel injector arranged at a center of an intake passage. A bridge member has at least two legs. The leg has one end fixed to the throttle body and the other end extending radially inwardly toward a central axis of the intake passage formed in the throttle body. The other ends of the legs are joined to each other at a joining portion. The joining portion is abutted against an end of the fuel injector opposite to a fuel injection port thereof. A fixing device cooperates with the bridge member to fix the air-cleaner assembly with respect to the throttle body.
