An air cleaner of this disclosure includes a hollow case, a filter element, and an opening end member. The hollow case defines an expanded space; the filter element defines an upstream-side expanded space and a downstream-side expanded space in the expanded space; the case includes an intake port configured to bring an upstream-side duct into communication with the upstream-side expanded space; the opening end member is formed from a material having an air permeability in a range of 0.3 to 100 sec/300 cc, and is integrated on an inner side of the intake port so as to project into the upstream-side expanded space and so as to extend a duct wall of the intake port; and D representing a diameter of the opening end member and L representing a length thereof satisfy 0.25D&#x2266;L&#x2266;2.0D.

Air cleaner

An air duct of this disclosure includes: a tubular duct body formed from a non-air-permeable material; and a tubular opening end member formed from an air-permeable material. The opening end member is integrated with an end portion of the duct body so as to extend a duct wall of the duct body. D representing a diameter of the opening end member and L representing a length thereof satisfy a relationship 0.1D&#x2266;L&#x2266;1.5D. An air permeability of the air-permeable material is in a range of 0.3 to 100 sec/300 cc.

Air duct and air flow system

An air intake noise reduction apparatus is provided which can effectively reduce air intake noise even with simple construction requiring a small number of components. Four air intake passages which each have different passage lengths are formed by connecting an upper wall and a lower wall of an air intake noise reduction duct which are flattened in a vertical direction with three partition walls Air intake noise can be reduced by making pulsating air interfere with one another which is generated in the plurality of air intake passages which each have the different passage lengths in such a manner as to have different phases shifted from one another. In addition, since the partition walls function as a reinforcement rib, the rigidity of the air intake noise reduction duct can be enhanced. Moreover, since the partition walls are formed in such a manner as to extend along an intake air flow direction, increase in intake air resistance can be suppressed to a minimum level.

Air intake noise reduction apparatus for automotive vehicle

A motor vehicle intake muffler duct is formed by integrally bonding an upper duct, a lower duct and a separator interposed between them. Three airways are formed between the upper duct and the separator, seven muffler chambers are formed between the lower duct and the separator, and the airways and the muffler chambers are communicated with each other through vent holes which are formed in the separator. An intake muffler duct in which multiple muffler chambers are integrated with the airways, can be formed from only three components, which are an upper duct, a lower duct and a separator, and moreover although it has a compact structure, it is possible to reduce the intake noise effectively.
