Provided is an antibacterial agent exhibiting an excellent antibacterial activity effect and exerting a mild influence on the environment and humans. The antibacterial agent of the present invention comprises, as an effective component, a mixture of coumarin analogues extracted from a citrus fruit pericarp, particularly a mixture of coumarin analogues obtained from citrus cold press oil.

An antifungal fragrance composition containing as its active ingredients: (a) at least one type of fragrance component selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde having 5 to 16 carbon atoms and an aliphatic or aromatic alcohol having 5 to 16 carbon atoms, and (b) at least one type of compound different from component (a) and selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde, an aliphatic or aromatic alcohol, acetal and ester that produces synergistic antifungal effects in the presence of said fragrance component (a). The present antifungal fragrance composition demonstrates antifungal activity by adding a small amount of oils and fragrant chemical products that have a minimal effect on the scent of the fragrance composition.

A dermal topical formulation containing p-menthane-3,8-diol and a whitening component such as arbutin, kojic acid, ellagic acid, ascorbic acid or its derivative, lactic acid, glycolic acid, tartaric acid, and an essence or an absolute extracted from a plant such as labdanum, jasmine and mugwort (T.vulgare). The dermal topical formulation is highly safe and capable of promoting the percutaneous absorption of the whitening component.

A perfume-containing controlled release biodegradable resin composition which can release aroma of the included perfume gradually without changing its perfume tone and can be used in such applications as deodorants, etc. The resin composition includes a biodegradable resin which is a random or block copolymer polyester represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, which is a divalent organic group that may be have a double bond or an oxygen atom but does not have a group represented by the formula ##STR2## wherein the symbol '*' is an asymmetric carbon atom. Each of m and n is 0 or an integer of 100 to 9,000, provided that m+n is within the range of 200 to 10,000. The molar ratio of the structural units [I] and [II] is 1-99:99-1 when m and n are not 0 and the number average molecular weight is 5,000 to 1,000,000, and a perfume such as a cyclic ether, a natural plant perfume, etc., is held in the biodegradable resin.
