An image pickup apparatus that is capable of preventing degradation of quality of an image obtained. An insertion-extraction unit inserts and extracts a filter of which transmittance for infrared light is higher than the transmittance for visible light. A computation unit computes an object distance between the image pickup apparatus and an object. An evaluation unit evaluates an image quality based on at least a sharpness in an image including a picked up object image. A control unit controls the insertion-extraction unit so as to insert or extract the filter based on at least one of the image quality and the object distance.

Image pickup apparatus capable of inserting and extracting filter

An imaging apparatus to communicate with an external apparatus via a network includes an image capturing unit, a rotation unit, a reception unit, first and second control units, a determination unit, and a control switching unit. The rotation unit rotates the image capturing unit in a predetermined direction. The reception unit receives a control command including information for designating acceleration when the rotation unit rotates the image capturing unit. The first control unit controls the rotation unit at the designated acceleration. The second control unit controls the rotation unit at acceleration that is different from the designated acceleration. The determination unit determines whether a speed at which the rotation unit rotates the image capturing unit is within a predetermined range. The control switching unit switches between the first control unit and the second control unit according to a determination result of the determination unit, and control the rotation unit.

A 3D image display has a display unit which is driven so as to emit light in a line-sequential or a block-sequential manner; a storage unit which stores characteristics information relating to temporal change in transmittance of a liquid crystal shutter glasses with respect to light of respective primary colors in the display unit; and a correction unit which corrects an input image signal of the respective primary colors using the characteristics information, so as to reduce color fluctuation between lines or between blocks in the observed image caused by differences in the temporal change of the transmittance of the liquid crystal shutter glasses in respect of each of the primary colors, wherein the display unit displays a corrected image based on a corrected image signal generated by the correction unit.

3D image display apparatus and control method for same

A 3D image control apparatus receives from shutter glasses an identification signal for identifying a type of the shutter glasses, reading a shutter opening and closing characteristic of the shutter glasses of the type identified based on the identification signal from a storage unit storing shutter characteristics of the shutter glasses in association with the type of the shutter glasses. The 3D image control apparatus controls display timing of an image display unit based on the shutter opening and closing characteristic in such a manner that display periods of the right eye image and the left eye image are respectively within opening periods of the right shutter and the left shutter.
