A high voltage power block includes a high voltage power transistor; and a switch driver configured to drive a gate of the high voltage power transistor. The high voltage power block is integrated in a programmable logic device (PLD) including a programmable fabric, a signal wrapper configured to provide signals between the high voltage power transistor and the programmable fabric, and a plurality of internal components. The plurality of internal components integrated in the PLD are programmably connected and characteristics of the high voltage power transistor are programmably adjusted using the programmable fabric and the signal wrapper.

Scalable integrated MOSFET (SIM)

An AC light system with a control unit for controlling power of an LED is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a driver circuit for driving LEDs has a plurality of current sinks, a first interface configured to receive an AC power from an AC power source, a second interface to a plurality LED groups. The driver circuit further has a third interface configured to receive a control input from a control unit. Each current sink of the plurality of current sinks controls an LED current flowing through a corresponding LED group based on the control input from the control unit.

AC lighting system with a control unit for controlling power of an LED

An AC direct driver lighting system including a surge protection circuit and a current limiting circuit is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the AC direct driver lighting system includes an LED load, a rectifier, and an LED driver configured to receive rectified AC voltage from an AC power source and drive the LED load. The AC direct driver lighting system further includes a surge protection circuit and a current limiting circuit disposed between the AC power source and the LED load. The surge protection circuit and the current limiting circuit suppress excessive current flowing through the AC direct driver lighting system.

System and method for providing surge protection for an AC direct step driver lighting system

An AC lighting system for providing uniform light distribution is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the AC lighting system includes an AC driver and LED packages electrically connected to the AC driver. Each LED package includes a plurality of LED elements and is physically distributed over an illuminating surface of the AC lighting system. The AC driver has a first current sink that drives a first LED group and a second current sink that drives the first LED group and a second LED group. The first LED group includes at least one LED element from each of the LED packages, and the second LED group includes at least one LED element other that the first set of LED elements from each of the LED packages.

AC direct drive lighting system for providing uniform light distribution

An LED driver controls current through an LED string. The LED driver generates a boosted PWM signal to drive a PWM transistor in the LED current path such that the PWM transistor maintains a substantially constant V, thus minimizing turn-on impedance of the PWM transistor. A current mirror circuit controls peak LED current when the PWM transistor is on. A trimming circuit includes a set of programmable switches to couple or decouple trimming transistor from the LED current path, and allowing for fine calibration of the LED current. By maintaining a low resistance and compensating for current mismatch in the LED current path, the LED driver provides efficient power performance and robustness that is particularly beneficial in high current applications.

High performance adaptive switched LED driver

A driver circuit for driving light emitting diodes (LEDs). The driver circuit includes: a string of LEDs divided into n groups, the n groups of LEDs being electrically connected to each other in series, a downstream end of group m&#x2212;1 being electrically connected to the upstream end of group m, where m is a positive number equal to or less than n. The driver circuit also includes a plurality of current regulating circuits, each of the current regulating circuits being coupled to the downstream end of a corresponding group at one end and coupled to the ground at the other end and including a sensor amplifier and a cascode having first and second transistors, each sensor amplifier being coupled to a different voltage source for providing a different reference voltage thereto.

Light emitting diode driver

A driver circuit for driving light emitting diodes (LEDs). The driver circuit includes: a string of LEDs divided into n groups, the n groups of LEDs being electrically connected to each other in series, a downstream end of group m-being electrically connected to the upstream end of group m, where m is a positive number equal to or less than n. A system that provides an intelligent approach to driving multiple strings of LEDs. A processing device determines an optimal current level for each LED string from a limited set of allowed currents. The processing device also determines a PWM duty cycle for driving the LEDs in each LED string to provide precise brightness control over the LED string. The settings for the current level and duty cycle are transmitted to an LED driver for regulating the current and on-off times of the LED strings. Beneficially, the system reduces the size of the LED driver while leveraging existing resources available in the processing device to operate the LEDs in a power efficient manner.

Adaptive switch mode LED system

The innovation relates to systems and/or methodologies for error detection during sub-assembly in high voltage analog circuits. A signal driver communicates test signals to one or more high voltage analog circuits, and a state machine compares the electrical and/or thermal responses of the high voltage analog circuits to a set of predetermined expected results (e.g., signatures). The signal driver and state machine can be incorporated into the high voltage analog circuits. The expected results can be stored in the target circuits in the form of look-up tables, matrices, and so forth. Errors, such as, dry solders and bridge solders can be determined based on the comparison of the obtained responses to the expected signatures.
