The processor is configured to determine a first confidence level associated with a first portion of the input audio signal based on the speaker model. The processor is also configured to determine a second confidence level associated with a second portion of the input audio signal based on the speaker model. The display is configured to present a graphical user interface associated with the first confidence level or associated with the second confidence level.

In a particular method, the processor while coupled to a coder/decoder (CODEC) retrieves audio feature data from a buffer after transitioning out of the low-power state. The CODEC is configured to operate at a second rate in the first mode and at a third rate in the second mode, the second rate and the third rate each greater than the first rate. The audio feature data indicates features of audio data received during the low-power state of the processor. A ratio of CODEC activity to processor activity in the second mode is less than the ratio in the first mode.

A method for controlling voice activation by a target keyword in a mobile device is disclosed. The method includes receiving an input sound stream. When the input sound stream indicates speech, the voice activation unit is activated to detect the target keyword and at least one sound feature is extracted from the input sound stream. Further, the method includes deactivating the voice activation unit when the at least one sound feature indicates a non-target keyword.

For determining the context, the method may also obtain data indicative of the context of the mobile device from at least one of an acceleration sensor, a location sensor, an illumination sensor, a proximity sensor, a clock unit, and a calendar unit in the mobile device. In this method, a threshold for activating the voice assistant function is adjusted based on the context. The method detects a target keyword from the input sound stream based on the adjusted threshold. If the target keyword is detected, the method activates the voice assistant function.

Embodiments of the invention describe methods and apparatus for performing context-sensitive OCR. A device obtains an image using a camera coupled to the device. The device identifies a portion of the image comprising a graphical object. The device infers a context associated with the image and selects a group of graphical objects based on the context associated with the image. Improved OCR results are generated using the group of graphical objects. Input from various sensors including microphone, GPS, and camera, along with user inputs including voice, touch, and user usage patterns may be used in inferring the user context and selecting dictionaries that are most relevant to the inferred contexts.
