A system and method to watermark a compressed content encrypted by at least one content key, said content key as well as pre-marking data forming Conditional Access System (CAS) data, said CAS Data being encrypted by a transmission key and comprising at least one signature to authenticate all or part of the CAS Data, said compressed content being received by a client device comprising: a Descrambler having an input to receive the encrypted compressed content and an output to produce an compressed content, a Watermark (WM) inserter directly connected to the output of the Descrambler, said Descrambler and said WM inserter being connected with a Conditioner, said Conditioner executing the following steps: receiving the CAS Data, decrypting the CAS Data with the transmission key, verifying the signature of the CAS Data, and if the signature is valid, transferring the content key to the descrambler and the pre-marking data to the WM inserter, and watermarking by the WM inserter, the decrypted content received by the descrambler using the pre-marking data and the identifier.

Method to watermark a compressed content encrypted by at least one content key

A system and method to watermark an uncompressed content received at a client device in a compressed form and encrypted by at least one content key, said content key as well as watermark instruction forming Conditional Access Module (CAS) data, said CAS data being encrypted by a transmission key and comprising at least one signature to authenticate the CAS data, said client device comprising a CAS configured to process the CAS data, a descrambler having an input to receive the encrypted compressed content and an output to produce an compressed content, a decoder to convert the compressed content into uncompressed content, a watermark inserter connected to the output of the decoder, a secure activation module connected with the watermark inserter, a secure element connected with the watermark inserter and the secure activation module.

Method and device to embed watermark in uncompressed video data

A method and a receiver device configured to mark a media content sequence comprising a succession of media frames. A decoder included in the receiver device selects at least two decoded consecutive media frames from the media content sequence according to a predefined information code previously stored in a configuration setting memory of the receiver device. A marking module associated to the decoder inserts a transition effect between the at least two selected decoded consecutive media frames including a preceding media frame and at least one immediately following media frame. The transition effect is retrieved from a library of transition effects stored in a memory associated to the marking module and applied on the basis of the preceding media frame and the at least one immediately following media frame. The inserted transition effect is then assigned to a secrete symbol associated to all or part of a unique identifier specific to the receiver device which outputs thus a modified sequence of media content comprising at least one transition effect between the at least two selected consecutive media frames.

Method and a receiver device configured to mark digital media content

A receiver device having a processor, memories, descrambler and decoders modules configured to produce a sequence of elementary media content packets. The receiver device further comprises a marker unit configured to mark data in the sequence of elementary media content packets according to a pattern defined by an internal parameter associated to the receiving device. The marker unit is configured to determine, in the sequence of elementary media content packets at least one segment of a predetermined length and starting at a predetermined position in the sequence, to divide the segment into a predetermined number of contiguous windows including data of all or part of at least one elementary media content packet. Each window in the segment defined in the sequence of elementary media content packets is indexed by an index defining a position of a window in the segment. The marker unit codes the internal parameter by applying a mathematical transformation function, obtaining a resulting bits string, calculates position indices of a predetermined number of windows on the basis of all or a portion of the resulting bits string, said predetermined number of windows being lower than the number of windows in the segment, and modifies data in the windows designated by the calculated position indices. The windows including modified data and the windows including original data from within the segment of elementary media content packets a unique pattern representing the internal parameter associated to the receiving device.

The method descrambles a first scrambled video stream having alternate values to obtain a personalized video stream corresponding to an original video stream by a decoder comprising at least a security unit and a descrambling unit, the personalized video stream being obtained by restoring the alternate values by personalized values taking into account an internal parameter on the security unit and received control data containing the original values and their location in the modified stream.
