In certain aspects, a method implemented in a wireless device includes determining a specific absorption rate (SAR) distribution for a first wireless communication technology, determining a power density (PD) distribution for a second wireless communication technology, and combining the SAR distribution and the PD distribution to generate a combined RF exposure distribution. The method also includes determining at least one first maximum allowable power level and at least one second maximum allowable power level for a future time slot based on the combined RF exposure distribution, setting at least one transmission power limit for a first transmitter in the future time slot based on the at least one first maximum allowable power level, and setting at least one transmission power limit for a second transmitter in the future time slot based on the at least one second maximum allowable power level.

Evaluating radio frequency (RF) exposure in real time

A UE may be configured to select narrower or wider beams that may be suitable for use with a current UE mobility, scattering environment, etc. The UE may track changes to an identified beam of a certain width, and so may recover from tracking or other radio link failures by switching to a beam that is spatially adjacent or to a beam of a different width. The UE may identify a first beam associated with a first beam width based on at least one reference signal received by the UE. The UE may further determine a set of beams based on the first beam width that is associated with the identified first beam, and the determined set of beams may include at least one beam corresponding to the first beam width. The UE may further measure respective channel qualities associated with each beam of the determined set of beams.

System and method for determination of a dynamic beam list

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication and testing. In some aspects, a device may receive information identifying a mount orientation of a wireless communication device, wherein the mount orientation indicates an orientation of a coordinate system of the wireless communication device relative to a coordinate system of a positioner. The device may capture measurement information at each position of a set of positions of the wireless communication device, wherein the set of positions comprises positions of the wireless communication device as the wireless communication device is rotated around an axis by the positioner, and wherein the measurement information is captured based at least in part on the mount orientation. The device may provide information identifying the measurement information. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein may use the measurement information to generate a codebook for beam generation. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Beam characterization

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a UE may communicate via a serving beam set of the UE, the serving beam set being one or more of a plurality of beams. The UE may measure another beam set in accordance with a measurement schedule configured to prioritize measurement on one or more adjacent beam sets associated with the serving beam set over one or more non-adjacent beam sets associated with the serving beam set. In some aspects, the one or more adjacent beam sets may be associated with one or more coverage areas that at least partially overlap a coverage area of the serving beam set, are adjacent to the coverage area of the serving beam set, or are associated with a measurement value that satisfies a threshold in the coverage area of the serving beam set. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Adjacent beam determination

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In certain configurations, the apparatus may be a user equipment (UE). The apparatus may receive configuration information for UL and DL transmissions from another device such as a base station. The apparatus may determine a maximum duty cycle of the UL transmission based on the configuration information. Based on the determined UL maximum duty cycle, the apparatus may determine a transmit power limit for the UL transmission. In one aspect, the apparatus may determine the UL transmit power limit by dividing the power corresponding to a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit by the determined maximum UL duty cycle. The apparatus may leverage the forward knowledge of the UL duty cycle to transmit at a power level that complies with the MPE limit while avoiding the poor uplink range associated with static power back-off.

Methods for maximum permissible exposure mitigation based on new radio time domain duplex configuration

Methods and systems for determining transmission power levels according to signal types and RF exposure limits. An example method generally includes determining a first transmission power for transmitting a first type of uplink (UL) signal, determining a second transmission power for transmitting a second type of UL signal based on the first transmission power, and transmitting at least one of the first UL signal according to the first transmission power or the second UL signal according to the second transmission power.

Power limits based on signal type for managing maximum permissible exposure

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to beam selection. An example method generally includes selecting, from a plurality of beams, a beam for transmission during a particular time interval within a time window, the selecting being based on a transmission power and a radio frequency (RF) exposure for each of the plurality of beams and transmitting at least one signal using the selected beam during the particular time interval.

Beam selection balancing maximum power exposure and link budget

Wireless communication devices are adapted to utilize maximum permissible exposure requirements in determining uplink traffic grant allocations within wireless communication systems. According to one example, a wireless communication device can determine one or more candidate uplink duty cycles for a subsequent uplink transmission interval based at least in part on an MPE requirement, determine a maximum number of resource blocks per symbol and a maximum MSC index associated with each of the one or more candidate uplink duty cycles from a predefined MCS index table, and select a duty cycle, number of resource blocks per symbol, and MCS that facilitates a largest number of un-coded bits for the subsequent uplink transmission interval. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to beam selection. An example method generally includes selecting, from a plurality of beams, a beam for uplink transmission during a particular time interval, the selecting being based on a transmission power and a radio frequency (RF) exposure for each of the plurality of beams and transmitting at least one uplink signal using the selected beam during the particular time interval.
