A system is provided. In some examples, the system includes a control circuit and a plurality of monitor circuits including a first monitor circuit. In a production mode, the control circuit is configured to test the plurality of monitor circuits. In a storage mode after testing the plurality of monitor circuits in the production mode, the control circuit is configured to test the plurality of monitor circuits more than once. In an assembly mode after testing the plurality of monitor circuits in the storage mode, the control circuit is configured to test the plurality of monitor circuits. In one or more examples, the control circuit is configured to skip the storage mode and test the plurality of monitor circuits in the assembly mode after testing in the production mode.

Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to improve one-hop extension in wireless battery management systems. An example apparatus is to cause transmission of an instruction to a first battery monitoring node (BMN) of a vehicle, the first BMN in communication with the apparatus, the instruction to cause the first BMN to operate as a repeater for a second BMN of the vehicle, the second BMN noncommunicative with the apparatus. The example apparatus is to process an acknowledgement from the first BMN indicating that the first BMN has configured to operate as the repeater. Additionally, the example apparatus is to cause transmission of a communication to at least the first BMN indicating a time at which at least the first BMN is to perform a first action associated with a first battery and the second BMN is to perform a second action associated with a second battery.

Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to improve one-hop extension in wireless battery management systems

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are described for a wireless battery system. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, instructions, and processor circuitry to at least one of instantiate or execute the instructions to identify a first battery node to transmit an uplink command during a first superframe interval, transmit a downlink command to the first battery node and a second battery node, the first battery node to switch in the first superframe interval from a receive state to a transmit state in response to the downlink command, the first battery node to transmit the uplink command in the transmit state, and receive the uplink command from the first battery node in the first superframe interval.

Wireless battery system and related methods

A method includes determining by a primary node a network formation process to establish a network with a secondary node according to a network condition of the primary node and the secondary node, the secondary node previously paired to the primary node in a previously established network connection between the primary node and the secondary node, performing by the primary node a scanning phase as part of the network formation process with the secondary node according to network configuration information stored by the primary node and the secondary node and obtained by the primary node and the secondary node in the previously established network connection; and skipping by the primary node a pairing phase of the network formation process with the secondary node responsive to the secondary node being previously paired to the primary node in the previously established network connection.

Network formation in wireless systems

A vehicular battery management system (BMS) comprises a battery controller, a set of battery cells, a primary network node coupled to the battery controller, and a secondary network node coupled to the set of battery cells. The primary and secondary network nodes are configured to wirelessly communicate with each other using frames that share a common frame format. The frame format includes one or more bits and a status of the one or more bits indicates whether the secondary network node is to communicate with the primary network node on behalf of another secondary network node.

One-hop extension

At least some aspects of the present disclosure provide for a method of data transmission, performed by a wireless device. In some examples, the method includes receiving a localization tone having a first value. The method further includes inserting the localization tone into a data packet at an application layer of a communication protocol stack, the localization tone preceding data of a payload of the data packet and having a last bit immediately preceding a first bit of the data of the payload. The method further includes generating a modified localization tone estimating an effect of processing on the localization tone, wherein the modified localization tone is generated and configured to have the first value after undergoing processing. The method further includes replacing the localization tone in the data packet with the modified localization tone. The method further includes transmitting the data packet.

An electronic communication device comprises a first transceiver capable of a bi-directional communication session on a first communication medium; a second transceiver capable of a bi-directional communication session on a second communication medium; and a control logic coupled to the first transceiver and the second transceiver and capable of implementing a convergence layer, wherein the control logic is configured to receive, from the first transceiver, a first signal; and cause, in response to the first signal, data received and transmitted by the first transceiver on the first communication medium as part of a communication session to be received and transmitted instead by the second transceiver on the second communication medium.

A method for implementing a convergence layer. Data is received on a first communication medium by a first transceiver. Data is transmitted on the first communication medium by the first transceiver. A signal is received. Causing, through the convergence layer, by a control logic in response to the signal, the data received and transmitted on the first communication medium as part of a communication session to be received and transmitted instead by a second transceiver on a second communication medium, wherein the convergence layer is configured to conceal from a routing layer at least one of: information related to the first signal, and information related to the data being received and transmitted on the second communication medium.

A system such as an electric meter includes a single-ended analog-to-digital converter which is susceptible to crosstalk. Methods and apparatus are disclosed to calibrate and cancel crosstalk effects. The system determines whether voltage-induced cross-talk is in-phase or out-of-phase with respect to voltage. The system determines a first calibration factor based on minimum and maximum measured current values and voltage. If the cross-talk is in-phase, the system sets a second calibration factor to 0. If the cross-talk is out-of-phase, the system computes the second calibration factor based on a measured current when a power factor angle is set to 90 degrees. Calibration factors may be stored in the multi-channel system. In use, the system measures current and voltage and computes the actual current, voltage and power based on the measured current and voltage by employing a crosstalk cancellation technique using the calibration factors.

In accordance with disclosed embodiments, a first power line communication (PLC) device connected to a PLC network includes channel control logic that assigns a first channel of the PLC network for transmission on a power line of PLC data packets between the first PLC device and a second PLC device connected to the PLC network and assigns a second channel of the PLC network for transmission on the power line of PLC data packets between the first PLC device and the third PLC device connected to the PLC network. The PLC device includes a transceiver that receives and transmits PLC data packets on the PLC network and which operates as a bridge device that communicates on both the first and second channels to pass PLC data packets between the second PLC device and the third PLC device.

Dynamic sharing of RAM in a software-defined communication system includes storing program code in a flash memory, categorizing parts of the code into groups of transmit categories according to when a part of the code needs to be copied into a section of a RAM and then executed during a first state of a TX state machine and according to how another part of the code can be later fit into the same section and then executed during a second state. Similarly, parts of the code are categorized into groups of receive categories according to when a part of the code needs to be copied into a section of RAM and then executed during a first state of a RX state machine and according to how another part of the code can be later fit into that section and then executed during a second state of the RX state machine, to reduce the amount of RAM without sacrificing speed performance.

Dynamic RAM sharing in software-defined TDD communication

A band of interest is divided into band segments. A scan frame is sent by a transmitter at a transmitting PLC node across each band segment. A receiver at a receiving node scans the band segments, listening for the scan frame. Upon detecting a scan frame, the receiving node measures the signal quality of each OFDM subcarrier modulated with symbols from the scan frame. The subcarrier signal quality values are stored in a table. Upon completion of the scan process, the table contains a signal quality value for each subcarrier within the band of interest. The table is then analyzed to find an operating band consisting of subcarriers with a highest average signal quality or a band that results in greater than a pre-determined minimum signal quality. The invented methods and embodiments may operate periodically to readjust the operating band configuration in the presence of electromagnetic interference including time-variant interference.

Power line communication operating frequency band selection apparatus, systems and methods

A power line communication (PLC) network includes a plurality of PLC devices. One such PLC device may include a transmitter power control system that determines a minimum level of transmission power for sufficiently communicating a plurality of data packets from the PLC device over the PLC network to a first destination PLC device on the PLC network by executing a training sequence over the PLC network via an electrical power distribution system. The transmitter power control system applies this minimum level of transmission power to transmit the data packets to the first destination PLC device.
