A low odor, fast curing composition coating composition with improved safety and mechanical properties, which cures readily under ambient conditions comprises a) a reactive polymer, oligomer or prepolymer having pendant acrylate or methacrylate groups, b) low odor acrylate or methacrylate monomers, c) an acrylate or methacrylate crosslinker, d) an isocyanate crosslinker, e) a thermal or photo active initiator, and optionally a reactive diluent and/or bead polymer. The composition is cured through multiple pathways, e.g., peroxide initiated radical curing and urethane step chain polymerization. Flooring and other construction materials coated with the composition are also provided.

Room temperature fast cure composition for low odor floor coating formulations

Waterborne polyurethane coating compositions comprising a polyol, an isocyanate crosslinker, and a small amount of thermoplastic microfibers, e.g., polyolefin microfibers, having a length of less than 1 mm, exhibit a much less sag, roller lines and other surface imperfections upon application to a substrate, in particular a vertical substrate such as a wall, than analogous water borne polyurethane compositions that lack the microfibers.

The present invention relates to urethane(meth)acrylate resins obtained from the reaction, in a first step, of at least one polyisocyanate (I) with at least one compound (II) containing at least two reactive groups capable to react with isocyanate groups and at least one (meth)acrylate (III) containing essentially one reactive group capable to react with isocyanate groups, and, in a subsequent step, reacting the product obtained from the first step with at least one polyisocyanate (IV) different from the poly-isocyanate (I) used in the first step, and their use for making radiation cured pressure sensitive adhesives.

Polymers are described that are prepared from di and mono-functional silicone and silane monomers of Formula 1 in which Y represents a direct bond or a oxy group; Rrepresents an optionally substituted organo group with at least one double bond which optionally may be an activated unsaturated moiety such as a (meth)acrylate group: for example 1-n-propoxy(acrylate) or ethenyl; and Rand Reach separately, and independently within each optional repeat unit, represent an optionally substituted hydrocarbo, hydrocarbo(oxy), hydrosilico and/or hydrosilico(oxy) groups; or example, methyl; or trimethylsiloxy; Rindependently represents an optionally substituted organo group with at least one double bond (such as Rabove) an optionally substituted hydrocarbo, and/or hydrosilico group for example trimethylsilyl or ethenyl; and n is from about 0 to about 2000; preferably from about 1 to about 100, for example n is 1. Such polymer precursors can be used to prepare flow modifying agents, defoamers and/or pressure sensitive adhesives. 

Polymer compositions

A composition of matter resistant to foaming comprising a hydrocarbon oil and an acrylate copolymer dispersed in the said hydrocarbon oil, which acrylated copolymer contains at last one polymerised fluorinated (meth)acrylate monomer wherein not more than three neighbouring carbon atoms in the said fluorinated (meth)acrylate monomer carry one or more fluorine substituents.

Foaming-resistant hydrocarbon oil compositions

A staged method of forming vinyl (e.g. acrylate) copolymer by solution polymerization which involves a) charging up to 90% of at least two vinyl monomers of the vinyl copolymer to a first stage reaction zone, b) polymerizing the at least two vinyl monomers to about 10 to 90% conversion in the presence of an initiator at an initiator to monomers mole ratio within a specified range, the monomer content of one of the at least two vinyl monomers of the copolymer formed in the first stage being higher than the content of another of the at least two vinyl monomers in the first stage polymer, the weight average molecular weight of the first stage copolymer being about 2000 to 500,000 Daltons; and c) continuing polymerization in the presence of an initiator in a second stage while continuously adding the balance of the monomers of said vinyl copolymer to the polymerization reaction mixture of the first stage at a monomers ratio lower in the one monomer than in the first stage monomers ratio, the initiator to monomers mole ratio in the second stage being different than in the first stage; the vinyl copolymer formed gradually continuously changing in molecular weight from the first stage and increasing in concentration of the one monomer during the second stage, the weight average molecular weight of the total copolymer of both stages being about 2,000 to 250,000 Daltons.
