An electrical connector assembly includes an insulative housing, a first cover pivotally assembled to the housing, a second cover pivotally assembled to the first cover, and a fan support secured upon the second cover. A plurality of contacts are disposed in the housing. A heat sink is associated with the second cover. A pair of fans are located by two opposite lateral sides of the heat sink and fixed to the fan support so as to induce an air flow along the slots defined between fins of the heat sink in a transverse direction.

An electrical connector for testing an electronic package, includes an insulative housing, an insulative sliding plate mounted upon the housing and moveable horizontally along a transverse direction, and a cover up-and-down movable relative to the housing in a vertical direction. The cover forms the actuating parts to contact the rollers of the sliding plate when the cover is downwardly pressed so as to not only urge the sliding plate to move horizontally in the transverse direction but also smoothly move downwardly to a lower position where the electronic package may be loaded upon the sliding plate in a zero insertion force condition with regard to the contacts.

An electric contact used to electrically connecting an IC socket to a PCB, comprises an upper contact, a lower contact and an elastic member between them. The upper contact comprises a first connecting portion to be connected to the IC socket and a first contacting portion with less length than the first connecting portion. The second connecting portion includes an expanding portion adjacent to the second contacting portion. The second contacting portion forms a receiving space for the first contacting portion. An electrical contact for being loaded in an electrical connector electrically connecting an IC module to a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a first contact, a second contact and an elastic arm. The first contact includes a first mating portion and a first connecting portion. The first mating portion defines a first contacting end for connecting with the IC socket. The second contact includes a second mating portion and a second connecting portion. The second contacting portion defines a second contacting end for connecting with the PCB. The pair of clamping arms are located elastically against corresponding inner sides, the static arm defines a lower curved portion with a projecting end and an upper linear portion, the projecting end of the lower curved portion of the static arm elastically presses against the movable arm permanently.

An electrical connector for connecting a flat circuit includes an insulating housing defining an insertion slot for receiving the flat circuit, a plurality of terminals arranged in the housing in parallel relationship, a shielding shell surrounding the insulating housing and an actuator. The terminals have contacting projections extending into the insertion slot. The shell provides a plurality of spaced spring fingers extending into the inserting slot and establishes a receiving path between the contacting projections and the pivot beams. The actuator is mounted on the electrical connector for movement between an open position lifting up the spring fingers of the shielding shell and allowing insertion of the flat circuit into the inserting slot and a closed position allowing the pivot beam restore and pressing against the flat circuit toward the contacting projections.

An electrical socket comprises an insulative housing having an upper surface extending along a first direction, a number of contacts received in the insulative housing, and a plurality of solder mass received in the housing and located aside a base portion of a contact, respectively. The contact comprises a base portion for retaining the contact received in the housing, a contacting portion extending from the base portion. The solder mass, the base portion and the contacting portion are disposed in a manner of one by one along the first direction. The electrical contact has a lower profile. The electrical socket is benefited with low profile suitable for compact and thin applications.

An electrical connector assembly comprises a printed circuit board (PCB) having opposite upper and lower surfaces, an insulating housing having opposite top and bottom surfaces and a plurality of terminals disposed on a bottom surface thereof. Each terminal defines a fusible member disposed thereon. The insulating housing can place the terminal on the upper surface of the PCB and is removed from the terminals after the terminals are soldered on the PCB through the fusible members.

An IC socket includes a base receiving a number of contacts, a lid mounted upon the base, and at least one latch mounted in the base. The lid is able to be operated between a first position away from the base and a second position adjacent to the base. The latch is driven by the lid to open and close. At least one stopper is disposed on the lid and extends into a recess defined on the latch to lock with latch the latch when the lid located at the first position for preventing the lid from dropping from the base.

A burn-in socket includes a base, a sliding plate mounted to the base, a number of contacts, and an actuator mounted on the base. The contact each has a base portion secured to the base and a pair of arms extending through the pin holes of the sliding plate. The base defines a cavity () and the insulative layers are stacked and received in the cavity. The insulative layers define a plurality of passageways therein. The contacts are received in the passageways of the insulative layers. The cams are rotatable around to push different insulative layers to have different degrees of movement in a predetermined direction.

Electrical connector for test socket

A burn-in socket for receiving an IC package comprises a socket body, a plurality of contacts mounted in the socket body and an actuator movably mounted upon the socket body. Each contact in the socket body includes a pair of clipping arms with tip portions at free ends thereof respectively. Solder balls attached to the bottom of the IC package are respectively clipped between the pair of the tip portions and thus the IC package should be brought into electrical contact with the contacts of the burn-in socket. The tip portion is plated with a Pd&#x2014;Co layer for reducing the attachment of the Sn and preventing the impedance of the contacts to increase. Meanwhile, the IC package can be sucked up successfully without absorption from the contacts of the burn-in socket.

The terminal has a movable arm and a static arm, the lid has a number of actuating portions downwardly extending from the bottom thereof to drive the sliding member. The actuating portion of the lid drives the sliding member to move in both a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction, so that the movable arm moves not only in the longitudinal direction but also in the transverse direction to avoid interference with a static arm of an adjacent terminal.
