Apparatus and methods are provided for L2-based sidelink relay for packet routing. In novel aspect, the L2-based sidelink relay for packet routing is configured based on interest indications from one or more candidate UEs and corresponding UE report from candidate UEs. In one embodiment, the UE report is received from an Uu interface RRC message or an RRC message forwarded through an Xn interface from a serving gNB. The L2 relay configuration includes one or more elements comprising an adaptation layer address of nodes in the relay path, and a packet routing table. The adaption layer is between an RRC layer and a PDCP layer. The packet routing table includes one or more elements including adaptation layer addresses, a relay path ID, and a next hop address. In one embodiment, the relay path includes one or more relay hops.

Packet routing for layer-2-based sidelink relay

Apparatus and methods are provided for reliable multicast transmission with compact protocol stack. In one novel aspect, compact protocol stacks are configured for the UE and the base station handling both the PTM RB and the PTP RB. The compact protocol stack is either configured a compact RLC entity or a compact PDCP entity. The UE monitors a PTM LCH and a PTP LCH and sends feedback to the network with the PTP RB. The base station transmits MBS data packets in the PTM mode to the one or more subscriber UE, monitors feedback report from each subscriber UEs through corresponding PTP RB, and retransmits MBS data packets to one or more UEs through corresponding PTP RBs based on corresponding feedback reports. PTM-to-PTP and PTP-to-PTM mode switches are performed when triggering events are detected. The mode switch notification is sent to UEs via MAC CE or RLC control PDU.

Reliable multicast transmission with compact protocol stack

A power-adjusting method for uplink transmission is provided. The power-adjusting method is applied to user equipment (UE). In response to the UE transmitting a first packet carrying a specific message to a network node, the power-adjusting method includes the UE increasing the transmission power to transmit the first packet.

Modem performance enhancement via smart transmission power distribution

A method of UE prioritizing and multiplexing simultaneous sidelink relay data for Logical Channel Prioritization (LCP) procedure in new radio (NR) system is proposed. UE can provide traffic prioritization based on traffic category when UE has simultaneous traffic from more than one traffic categories to transmit. The sidelink relay traffic prioritization is then used for transmission interface and resource selection, and data multiplexing prioritization on the basis of sidelink relay architecture. Specifically, a method on how to perform the corresponding logical channel prioritization (LCP) operation for MAC PDU multiplexing is provided. LCP restriction is considered to determine which classes of traffic can be multiplexed into the same MAC PDU together. Priority of multiplexing is also applied to determine the order and the amount of traffic to be included in the MAC PDU.

Method of logical channel prioritization to support sidelink relay

A method of a relay user equipment (UE) can include receiving, at the relay UE, from a first neighbor UE, a communication request message for establishing a connection between an initiating UE and a target UE, the communication request message including first security-establishment-related information originating from the initiating UE for establishing a security association between the initiating UE and the target UE; modifying the communication request message to add second security-establishment-related information for establishing a security association between the relay UE and a second neighbor UE; and transmitting to the second neighbor UE the modified communication request message that includes the first security-establishment-related information originating from the initiating UE for establishing the security association between the initiating UE and the target UE, and the second security-establishment-related information added by the relay UE for establishing the security association between the relay UE and the second neighbor UE.

Security mechanism for connection establishment over multi-hop sidelinks

A method executed by a relay UE is provided. The relay UE receives an incoming SideLink (SL) transmission from the first remote UE on the first RLC channel, wherein the first RLC channel is associated with an SL Radio Bearer (SLRB) ID, in which the incoming SL transmission includes the first identifier, which includes the SLRB ID and a first UE ID. The relay UE sends an outgoing SL transmission to a second remote UE on a second RLC channel according to the SLRB ID and the first UE ID.

Apparatuses and methods for SideLink (SL) communication in a User Equipment (UE)-to-UE relaying architecture

Various examples and schemes pertaining to partial sensing enhancement for sidelink (SL) resource allocation in New Radio (NR) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications are described. A user equipment (UE) performs one-shot sensing and periodic sensing prior to a transmission. The UE selects a resource based on results of the one-shot sensing and the period sensing. Then, the UE performs the transmission using the selected resource in a SL communication in a V2X network.

Partial sensing enhancement for sidelink resource allocation

Mechanism of relay UE discovery and relay UE selection and reselection for remote UE data transmission with a serving base station via relay UE is proposed. A method operable for relay UE selection and reselection of remote UE is provided. The UE considers additional criteria such as relay load other than purely radio signal quality (e.g., RSRP) criteria. The relay load can serve different purpose for relay UE and remote UE. The relay load can be the criteria for UE to become a relay UE or not. It can be the criteria for a remote UE to select another UE as its relay UE.

Relay selection and reselection

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from one or more peer UEs. The controller determines a Sidelink (SL) Discontinuous Reception (DRX) configuration set, and applies the SL DRX configuration set to enable a DRX operation for SL communications with the peer UEs via the wireless transceiver; wherein the SL DRX configuration set is determined based on one of the following: one or more types of one or more SL services which the UE is participating with the peer UEs; one or more SL DRX configurations received from the peer UEs; and control information received from a Base Station (BS).

Apparatuses and methods for discontinuous reception (DRX) support in sidelink communication

A method executed by a relay UE is provided. The relay UE establishes a first Radio Link Control (RLC) channel between a first remote UE and the relay UE, in which the first RLC channel is associated with a first end-to-end identifier. The relay UE establishes a second RLC channel between a second remote UE and the relay UE, in which the second RLC channel is associated with the first end-to-end identifier or a second end-to-end identifier. The relay UE receives an incoming SideLink (SL) transmission from the first remote UE on the first RLC channel, in which the incoming SL transmission includes the first end-to-end identifier. The relay UE sends an outgoing SL transmission to the second remote UE on the second RLC channel, in which the outgoing SL transmission includes one of the first end-to-end identifier and the second end-to-end identifier.

Apparatuses and methods for sidelink (SL) communication in a user equipment (UE)-to-UE relaying architecture

A fingerprint sensing system including a plurality of micro-lenses, a sensor, a shielding structure and a controller is provided. The micro-lenses are arranged in an array. The sensor has a plurality of sensing pixels arranged in an array. The sensor, the shielding structure and the micro-lenses are sequentially arranged along an arrangement direction. The controller is electrically connected to the sensor. A pitch between the micro-lenses is greater than a pitch between the sensing pixels. The controller forms a fingerprint image according to signals of a plurality of output pixels of the sensor, wherein each of the output pixels is one of every at least four of neighboring sensing pixels. An operation method of a fingerprint sensing system is also provided.

Fingerprint sensing system and operation method thereof

Apparatus and methods are provided for sidelink measurement configuration and report for open-loop sidelink power control. In one embodiment, the SL measurement report configuration configures a first measurement report, and wherein the reference threshold is an absolute reference threshold. In another embodiment, the reference threshold is an SL measurement result in an SL measurement report previously sent to the transmitting UE. In some embodiments, the reporting condition is the layer-3 (L3) filtered SL RSRP measurement being the offset higher or lower than the reference threshold. In yet another embodiment, the reporting condition is an explicit request of measurement report from the transmitting UE. In one embodiment, the SL measurement report includes one or more elements comprising a Boolean indicator, a delta value between the L3 filtered SL RSRP measurement and the reference threshold, and an absolute value of the L3 filtered SL RSRP measurement.

Measurement configuration and report for sidelink open-loop power control

A method of radio link monitoring (RLM) can include performing a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) transmission over a radio link between a Tx UE and a Rx UE in sidelink communications, receiving a HARQ feedback status corresponding to the PSSCH transmission from a physical layer, incrementing a count of a number of consecutive HARQ failure indications (e.g., represented by HARQ DTX) received for PSSCH transmissions over the radio link between the Tx UE and the Rx UE by 1 when the received HARQ feedback status is a HARQ failure indication, declaring a radio link failure (RLF) for the radio link between the Tx UE and the Rx UE when the count of the number of consecutive HARQ failure indications reaches a threshold, and resetting the count of the number of consecutive HARQ failure indications to 0 when the received HARQ feedback status is not a HARQ failure indication.

Radio link monitoring in sidelink communications

A fingerprint sensing module including an image sensor, a microlens array and a light-shielding layer is provided. The image sensor has multiple pixels. Each of the pixels has multiple light-sensing regions physically separated. Each of the light-sensing regions is adapted to receive an image beam coming from a fingerprint of user. The microlens array is disposed above the image sensor. The microlens array includes multiple microlens. A focus region of each of the microlens covers a portion of the light-sensing regions. The light-shielding layer is disposed between the image sensor and the microlens array. The light-shielding layer has multiple openings, and the positions of the openings are corresponded to the positions of the pixels.

Fingerprint sensing module

Apparatus and methods are provided for adaptation handling for L2-based sidelink relay for packet routing. In novel aspect, the sidelink adaptation protocol (SAP) layer inserts SAP header including the adaptation layer address (ALA) before routing the packet data to the next hop. In other embodiments, the SAP layer includes a sequence number (SN). In one embodiment, the SN number in the SAP layer is the same as the PDCP SN number. In another embodiment, the SAP layer assigns SN number. In other embodiments, the SAP layer performs bearer mapping between an ingress logical channel and an egress logical channel at one or more intermediate nodes. In one embodiment, the bearer mapping is based on the QoS information or is based on a fixed logical channel configuration.
