Certain embodiment of the invention discloses a new gate driver structure suitable for TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display apparatuses, comprising a gate driver having at least one channel for outputting voltage signals; a switch circuit for controlling the outputted voltage signals from the gate driver; and a TFT substrate wherein the gate driver and the switch circuit are positioned on the substrate.

Structure of gate driver

A method for automatic gain control of a front-end for a digital video receiver is provided. The method includes the following steps. First, a radio frequency signal is received and converted to an intermediate frequency signal. Then, the IF signal is amplified according to a gain. Next, the amplified IF signal is demodulated into a base-band signal, and the base-band signal is encoded into a transport stream. After that, a DC level of a pulse width modulation signal is controlled by at least one variable resistor to adjust the gain, the PWM signal being related to a setting of the gain. Afterwards, a BER measurement at each potential setting of the gain and the variable resistor under one or more power levels of the RF signal is read, and an optimum setting of the gain and the variable resistor is selected according to the BER measurements.

Front-end for digital video receiver and method for automatic gain control thereof

An apparatus and a method for generating overdriving values are provided, used to generate the overdriving values for displaying image data. The apparatus for generating overdriving values includes an outside environment sensor unit and an adjustment module. The outside environment sensor unit is for detecting at least an environment parameter. The adjustment module, electrically coupled with the outside environment sensor unit, receives environment parameters, generates and outputs the adjustment overdriving values according to the environment parameters. The above-mentioned environment parameters include at least one of a frame rate and a temperature.

Apparatus and method for generating overdriving values for use in LCD overdriving

The present invention provides an overdriving circuit for source drivers to overdrive a LCD module. The overdriving circuit includes a first threshold detection logic unit, a second threshold detection logic unit, and a selection logic unit. The first threshold detection logic unit receives gray scale data from an overdriving timing controller, compares the gray scale data to a first predetermined gray scale value, and outputs a first control signal. The second threshold detection logic unit receives the gray scale data, compare the gray scale data to a second and a third predetermined gray scale values, and outputs a second control signal. The selection logic unit receives the gray scale data, receives a plurality of gray scale compensation data, and outputs one of the received data according to the first control signal, the second control signal and a third control signal.

Overdriving circuit and method for source drivers

A frame-varying addressing method of a color sequential liquid crystal display is disclosed for display of successive frames. Each of the frames is composed of three subframes, and each of the subframes is composed of a plurality of scan lines. According to the frame-varying addressing method of the invention, the addressing sequence of scan lines for display of any frame or subframe is arranged in the same direction as those for display of its adjacent frames or subframes, and is selected to be different from those for display of its adjacent frames or subframes. Further, the addressing sequence for the frame (subframe) and its adjacent frames (subframes) can be periodically or randomly selected, so as to effectively balance or greatly eliminate the spatial intensity variations due to inconsistent response times at different portions of the panel.

A line compensated overdriving circuit for use in a color sequential display is disclosed. The line compensated overdriving circuit comprises an overdrive unit, a line compensation generator, and a line compensated overdrive (LCO) processor. The overdrive unit receives previous data and present data to output overdrive data. The line compensated generator receives a line position of each pixel to output a line compensated factor, and the LCO processor receives the line compensated factor and the overdriven data to generate compensated data for the pixel. Thus, the line compensated overdriving circuit can eliminate the spatial intensity variations associated with the conventional color sequential displays.

A method for detecting whether or not a display mode has to be switched and for detecting a frame of a liquid crystal display panel. The frame has M vertical blocks each including K display lines each having N horizontal blocks each being composed of multiple display units. First, a horizontal block flag value of each horizontal block is obtained according to energy levels of all of the display units of the horizontal block. Then, a display line flag value of each display line is obtained according to horizontal block flag values of all of the horizontal blocks of the display line. Next, M vertical block flag values are obtained according to the display line flag values of all of the display lines in each vertical block. Then, it is determined whether or not the display mode has to be switched according to the M vertical block flag values.

A method for charge sharing between source lines of a pixel array. The method includes the steps of grouping the source lines into pairs, implementing charge sharing if data polarities of a currently and a last scanned row are different; otherwise, in each pair of the source lines, estimating a first and second energy driving the two source lines respectively with and without a preliminary charge sharing, and implementing charge sharing only if the first energy is smaller than the second energy.
