Reactive sulfur species have been recognized as an important regulator in redox biology, wherein the reactive sulfur species have been shown to be active in tumor suppressors, ion channels, and transcription factors. The disclosed invention is a novel composition of matter that allows for the detection of HS and HSspecies in living cells. These novel compositions represent significant progress in the field of chemical, HS and HSprobes as they have both been successfully applied in the visualization sulfur species in living systems.

Fluorescent probes for detecting hydrogen polysulfides

The embodiments herein generally relates to compounds and methods for releasing HS in a pH dependent manner. In particular, the invention provides compounds of various formulations which release HS in a controlled, predictable and sustained manner upon contact with an aqueous environment, such as the circulatory system of an animal, and which are thus suitable for in vivo delivery of HS.

Compounds for pH-controlled release of hydrogen sulfide

Reaction-based fluorescent probes are provided which detect, for example, biologically important sulfane sulfur species (persulfide, polysulfide, and elemental sulfur) in, for example, complex and living systems. The probes are high in selectivity and sensitivity to sulfane sulfurs. Moreover, probes are suitable for bioimaging sulfane sulfurs in living cells.

Methods and assays for detecting S-sulfhydration of amino acids in proteins, polypeptides and peptides are provided. The method is a two-step 'tag-switch' method employing two reagents consecutively to specifically label, with a detectable label, persulfide (&#x2014;S&#x2014;SH) linkages in proteins, polypeptides and peptides.

Provided are methods for forming a reactive S-nitroso thioacid (NTA), comprising nitrosation of a thioacid with a nitrosation reagent. Also provided are methods for: acylating a nucleophile including selective acylation with a high degree of selectivity toward amines over hydroxyls; amide or peptide bond formation; forming a dipeptide or polypeptide; and peptide coupling/ligation, comprising use of thioacid and amine starting materials, wherein the reactions are mediated by very reactive S-nitroso thioacid (NTA) intermediates enabling extremely fast reactions under mild conditions, providing for broad applications.

Controlled chemical release of hydrogen sulfide

An epoxide agent for an epoxy resin system, the epoxide agent comprising at least one non-acid functional rosin moiety and at least one epoxide moiety. Another embodiment is a curing agent for an epoxy resin system comprising at least one non-acid functional rosin moiety and at least one moiety that is reactive with an epoxy.
