Spacing architecture for liquid crystal display and spacing method thereof

A liquid crystal display panel having a display area comprises a first substrate, a second substrate, a sealant, a liquid crystal layer, and a light-shielding layer. The sealant is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer is disposed in a space defined by the first substrate, the second substrate and the sealant. The light shielding layer is disposed on a first outer surface of the first substrate or a second outer surface of the second substrate, wherein the light shielding layer and the display area are not overlapped. In addition, the liquid crystal display panel further comprises a protection layer. Since the protection layer encapsulates the light-shielding layer, out-diffusion of dye within the light-shielding layer is effectively prevented.

Liquid crystal display panel and method of fabricating the same

A liquid crystal display (LCD) substrate and a fabrication method thereof are provided. The LCD substrate comprises a substrate, a spacer definition layer formed on the substrate comprising a first step, and a spacer formed along a profile of the first step of spacer definition layer and adjacent to the first step, thereby forming a second step on the spacer. The invention utilizes a single photolithographic process to form spacers with steps, thus, effectively lowering the probability of mura defects caused by gravity, contact, or an uneven cell gap.

Liquid crystal display substrate and fabrication method thereof

The screen of a liquid crystal display is first divided into a compensation portion, a compensation transition portion and a non-compensation portion in a sequence arranged along the scanning line. Then storage capacitor areas of the pixels in the non-compensation portion are made equal, whereas the difference between the storage capacitor area of the pixel in the compensation portion and that in the non-compensation portion is set to one constant basic compensation area. Afterward, the average of the storage capacitor areas of the pixels on each data line in the compensation transition portion progressively varies along the scanning line, where the average is greater than or equal to any of the storage capacitor areas of the pixels in the non-compensation portion. The direction of the scanning line is designated as either the direction in which scanning signals are transmitted or the direction opposite thereto.

Method for eliminating flickers of liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal display is suitable for displaying images with rapid motions, and comprises an active matrix substrate equipped with a plurality of thin film transistors. The active matrix substrate comprises a plurality of pixels that are placed at the encircled areas of a plurality of scanning lines and a plurality of data lines. Each pixel consists of two thin film transistors and one pixel electrode. The data lines connected electrodes of the thin film transistors are connected to two adjoining data lines respectively, whereas the pixel connected electrodes of the two thin film transistors are together connected to the pixel electrode. The gate electrodes of the two thin film transistors are connected to two adjoining scanning lines respectively.

Display device and driving method thereof

A liquid crystal display panel with reduced flicker comprises an active matrix substrate equipped with a plurality of thin film transistors. The active matrix substrate has an active area that is formed with a plurality of first signal lines and a plurality of second signal lines crossing each other. The active area includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix. There are outer-lead bonding areas around the active area. There are a plurality of pad areas within the outer-lead bonding areas. A plurality of second wires arranged in a fan-out configuration extend from the pad areas and stretch toward the active area. The second wires are connected to their respective first signal lines by their serpentine or zigzag routes resulting in various wire lengths. A frame-like lead overlaps the second wires, and a capacitor exists between each of the second wires and the closed frame-like lead. The induced capacitor and the resistance of the corresponding second wire together result in a compensation effect so as to uniform the time constants of the plurality of first signal lines.

A pixel structure and repair method thereof. A through hole is formed in the common line. When the source/drain electrode of a thin film transistor is not electrically connected to a pixel electrode due to a polymer residue remaining in a contact hole, a first laser beam passes through the through hole to weld the source/drain electrode and the pixel electrode. The defective pixel can be thus repaired to display the original color. In addition, if the defective pixel fails due to a defective thin film transistor, the invention irradiates a second laser beam to sever the source/drain electrode such that the defective thin film transistor is not electrically connected to the pixel electrode. The defective pixel can be thus repaired to a dark point.

A liquid crystal display device has a pixel electrode layer formed between a first data bus line and a second bus line. A first space between the first data bus line and the periphery of the pixel electrode layer is different from a second space between the second data bus line and the periphery of the pixel electrode layer.

Liquid crystal display device and fabrication method thereof

A TFT-LCD having a first glass substrate provided for fabricating transistors, a second glass substrate provided for fabricating a color filter, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the second and first glass substrates. The TFT-LCD comprises the following components. A color filter is formed beneath the second glass substrate which has plural color filter elements and a first black matrix, wherein each grid pattern of the first black matrix is disposed to surround a color filter element. And the color filter element formed beneath the second glass substrate extends outward to surfaces of the first black matrix. A common electrode is formed beneath the color filter, wherein a part of the common electrode, the pixel units, and the first black matrix are overlapped to have a downward protruding structure. A second black matrix is formed on the first glass substrate, wherein each grid pattern of the second black matrix is disposed under inner edges of the each grid pattern of the first black matrix. And a pixel electrode is formed on the first glass substrate and located under the color filter element, wherein the pixel electrode extends outward to overlap the second black matrix to have an upward protruding structure.

Liquid crystal display with wide viewing angle with etching stopper placed in protrusion

During a vertical scanning period, the potential of one of the two electrodes which LC capacitors connected to each scanning line have is changed, and meanwhile the potential of the other has a coupled voltage caused from the change. The pixel electrode connected to the other one electrode of the LC capacitor also has a potential change caused from the coupled voltage so that the coupled voltage is written into the LC capacitor to turn the pixel black. That is, during one vertical scanning period, each pixel turns true black or near black from a predetermined gradation. Therefore, the LCD panel can have a sharp image, and is suitable for displaying a fast continuous movement.

Liquid crystal display panel and driving method therefor

A reflective liquid crystal display panel for dual display. The panel has a plurality of pixels and each pixel having first and second display regions. Each pixel includes a first substrate and a second substrate opposite thereto, wherein the first substrate includes a pixel driving device. A first reflective layer is formed overlying the first substrate in the first display region. A second reflective layer is formed overlying an interior of the second substrate in the second display region. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate.

Reflective liquid crystal display for dual display

A thin film transistor liquid crystal display. At least a gate line and a data line define at least one pixel area. An enclosed cavity is formed in the gate line to separate the gate line into a first gate region and a second gate region. A thin film transistor has a gate electrode that is the first gate region or the second gate region, a source electrode that is an extension of the data line and is over the enclosed cavity, and a drain electrode. A pixel electrode covers the pixel area and is electrically connected to the drain electrode.

A method for defining plural windows with different etching depths simultaneously is disclosed. The method includes steps of (a) forming a photoresist on a substrate having a multiple film structure thereon, (b) exposing a first region of the photoresist to a first exposure dose and a second region of the photoresist to a second exposure dose, (c) obtaining different remaining thickenesses of the photoresist on the first region and the second region by a development, and (d) etching the first region and the second region of the photoresist for forming the plural windows with different etching depths of the multiple film structure.

Method for defining windows with different etching depths simultaneously

The present invention provides a method to prevent an ITO from opening. A dummy material layer with tapered edges is formed on a substrate. A first insulating layer is formed on the dummy material layer. Then a metal layer is formed on the first insulating layer, wherein one edge of the metal layer corresponds to any part of one of the tapered edges of the dummy material layer and the other tapered edge is situated away from the metal layer. After a second insulating layer is formed on the metal layer, an ITO layer is formed thereon without opening.
