A filtration media pack is provided having a plurality of layers of single facer media. The layer of single facer media includes a fluted sheet, a facing sheet, and a plurality of flutes extending between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet and having a flute length extending from a first face to a second face of the filtration media pack. A first portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered fluid flowing into the first portion of the plurality of flutes, and a second portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered fluid flowing out of the second portion of the plurality of flutes so that fluid passing into one of the first face and the second face of the media pack and out the other face of the media pack passes through media to provide filtration of the fluid.

Filtration media pack, filter element, and methods

Filter media includes a filtration substrate having a first side and a second side, and constructed for filtering a fluid by flow of the fluid therethrough. The filtration substrate has a machine direction extending from a first end to a second end, and a cross direction extending from a first edge to a second edge. The filtration substrate includes a plurality of corrugations extending in the machine direction. The plurality of corrugations include a plurality of first crests formed along the first side and a plurality of second crests formed along the second side. The filtration substrate includes a plurality of bosses along the plurality of first crests or along the plurality of second crests and extending in a direction away from the other of the plurality of first crests or the plurality of second crests. Media packs, filter elements, and methods of making are provided.

Filtration media, pleated media pack, filter cartridge, and methods for manufacturing

An air filtration media pack is provided having a plurality of layers of single facer media. The layer of single facer media includes a fluted sheet, a facing sheet, and a plurality of flutes extending between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet and having a flute length extending from a first face of the filtration media pack to a second face of the filtration media pack. A first portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered air flowing into the first portion of the plurality of flutes, and a second portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered air from flowing out of the second portion of the plurality of flutes so that air passing into one of the first face and the second face of the media pack and out the other of the first face and the second face of the media pack passes through media to provide filtration of the air. The fluted sheet includes repeating internal peaks facing toward the facing sheet and repeating external peaks facing away from the facing sheet. In addition, the fluted sheet can include at least one ridge extending along at least 50% of the flute length between an internal peak and an adjacent external peak. The method includes forming fluted filtration media having a repeating pattern of flutes wherein at least one flute in the repeating pattern of flutes comprises at least one ridge in a flute period between adjacent same side peaks, the flutes showing a tapered cross sectional area.

Method and apparatus for forming fluted filtration media having tapered flutes

A filtration media pack is provided having a plurality of layers of single facer media. The layer of single facer media includes a fluted sheet, a facing sheet, and a plurality of flutes extending between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet and having a flute length extending from a first face of the filtration media pack to a second face of the filtration media pack. A first portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered fluid flowing into the first portion of the plurality of flutes, and a second portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered fluid flowing out of the second portion of the plurality of flutes so that fluid passing into one of the first face and the second face of the media pack and out the other of the first face and the second face of the media pack passes through media to provide filtration of the fluid. The filtration media pack can be provided with increased filtration media compared with commonly used z-media packs. Techniques for increasing the amount of filtration media available for filtration include increasing the flute density, reducing masking, adjusting flute width height ratio, increasing flute density, adjusting flute shape, and reducing plug length. Techniques for increasing performance while reducing initial pressure drop are also provided. A filter element containing the filtration media pack is provided, and the filter element includes a seal member extending around a periphery of the filtration media pack. A method for manufacturing a filtration media pack and a method for using a filtration media pack are provided.
