A fabric sleeve for protecting elongate members against at least one of EMI, RFI or ESD and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes a wall extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite ends. The wall is formed from a plurality of filaments interlaced with one another, with at least one of the filaments being provided as a continuous strand of conductive wire and at least some of the filaments being provided as heat-fusible nonconductive filaments. The heat-fusible nonconductive filaments abut the continuous strand of conductive wire at a plurality of bond joints. The continuous strand of conductive wire is at least partially embedded in bonded, fixed attachment with the heat-fusible nonconductive filaments at the bond joints.

Protective sleeve with bonded wire filaments and methods of construction thereof

A self-wrapping textile sleeve that is abrasion, arc and water resistant and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes a wall having opposite edges extending in a lengthwise direction along a central longitudinal axis of the sleeve between opposite ends. The opposite edges overlap one another to form an inner tubular cavity. The wall has warp yarns extending in the lengthwise direction generally parallel to the central longitudinal axis and weft yarns extending generally transversely to the longitudinal axis between the opposite edges. The warp and weft yarns include expanded PTFE yarns, and the weft yarns further include heat-settable thermoplastic yarns. The heat-settable polymeric yarns impart a bias on the wall to bring the opposite edges into their overlapping relation.

Self-wrappable ePTFE textile sleeve and method of construction thereof

A textile sleeve constructed in accordance with one aspect of the invention provides fire protection to an oil or fuel fluid conveying conduit and meets the AS1055 Class A protection requirements at a zero flow rate and the AS1055 Class B protection requirements at a zero flow rate. The textile sleeve includes a single tubular textile wall formed from at least one of the group consisting of basalt, silica, ceramic and fiberglass yarn. The wall has an outer surface and an inner surface bounding a cavity sized for receipt of the fluid conveying conduit. A coating of silicone rubber is adhered to the outer surface of the wall, and a flame retardant additive is mixed with the silicone rubber to form a coating composition. The flame retardant additive is selected from the group consisting of at least one of zinc borate, magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide.

Fire resistant textile sleeve and methods of construction thereof and providing fire protection therewith

A zero-halogen flame-retardant compound and continuous materials extruded therefrom comprise poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), fire-retardant ingredients melamine cyanurate (MC) and melamine polyphosphate (MPP), and an organo titanate coupling agent. The coupling agent acts as a dispersion agent to the fine powders of PET, MC and MPP and also allows the resin of the fine powders to be compounded at a reduced temperature which prevents degradation of the PET. The compound can be extruded as a thin film, sheet or tubing, and also as a filament or yarn, including monofilaments and multifilaments, which can ultimately be used to construct a protective sleeve.

Flame-retardant compound, continuous materials and products constructed therefrom and methods of manufacture thereof

A hybrid yarn filament and sleeve constructed therefrom for protecting elongate members against at least one of EMI, RFI or ESD is provided, along with methods of constructing the hybrid yarn filament and sleeves. The hybrid yarn filament has a nonconductive filament and at least one conductive wire filament overlying an outer surface of the nonconductive filament. The hybrid yarn filament is arranged in electrical communication with itself or other hybrid yarn filaments during construction of the sleeve to provide uniform shielding against EMI, RFI, and and/or ESD.

Protective sleeve fabricated with hybrid yard, hybrid yarn, and methods of construction thereof

A halogen-free flame-retardant compound and method of forming a continuous material therefrom includes compounding poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) with fire-retardant ingredients melamine cyanurate (MC) and melamine polyphosphate (MPP). The compound is then formed into pellets and/or extruded as a thin film or sheet, and also as a filament or yarn, including monofilaments and multifilaments.

Flame-retardant compound and method of forming a continuous material therefrom

A low profile fold protective textile sleeve for bundling elongate members has longitudinally and laterally interlaced monofilament warp and fill yarns. Flat profile monofilaments are employed in the warp direction and round monofilaments in the fill direction. The flat monofilaments are considerably wider than they are thick, and provide the sleeve with flexibility and bending out of the plane of the sleeve. The round monofilaments may be sized so that their diameter is about the same as the thickness of the flat monofilaments, and they can be bundled together so that the effective width of each bundle approximates the width of the flat monofilament yarns with which they are intertwined. The round monofilaments are heat-set along at least a portion of their length to provide biased living hinge regions of the sleeve, while also lending strength and stiffness to the sleeve along the fill direction.

Low profile textile wire bundler sleeve

A fabric sleeve and hybrid yarn filament used in construction of the sleeve for protecting elongate members against at least one of EMI, RFI or ESD, and methods of construction of the sleeve and hybrid yarn filament. The sleeve includes at least one interlaced hybrid yarn filament having a non-conductive filament and at least one conductive wire filament overlying an outer surface of the non-conductive filament. The hybrid yarn filament is arranged in electrical communication with itself or other hybrid yarn filaments to provide uniform shielding against EMI, RFI, and/or ESD.
