A computing system is provided. The computing system a central processing unit (CPU) configured to run a basic input/output system (BIOS) service and an operating system (OS). The computing system further includes a baseboard management controller (BMC) and a first boot non-volatile memory coupled to both the CPU and the BMC. A first portion of the first boot non-volatile memory stores system settings and configuration in an open standard such that the BIOS and the BMC can access the system settings based on a temporal ownership of the first portion of the first boot non-volatile memory.

Systems and methods for memory content sharing between hosts and management controllers

A system and method for shortening the system management mode when a fault occurs in hardware component in a computer system is disclosed. The computer system has hardware components that may have faults. Notification of an error in one of the hardware components is received through RAS silicon on a processing unit. The error is detected from the hardware component by a system management interrupt handler executed by a bootstrap processor core. The error data is logged into a system error log via a system control interrupt handler executed by the processing unit. The system management mode is avoided during the logging of the error data. This prevents other processor cores being suspended from the system management mode.

Methods and systems for reducing downtime from system management mode in a computer system

A centralized flash memory module is provided. The centralized flash memory module includes flash memory components, a flash memory management controller (FMMC), and a complex programmable logic device (CPLD). Each of the flash memory components is connected to a server device separate from the centralized flash memory module. The FMMC is configured to connect to the flash memory components and to a rack management device, separate from the centralized flash memory module. The CPLD is configured to connect the FMMC to the flash memory components and connect the server device to the flash memory components.

A baseboard management controller (BMC) of a system can retrieve logged system events from a non-volatile storage of the BMC and receive a command from an administrator device for the BMC to collect system debug information. The BMC can obtain debug information from a component of the system, in response to receiving the command. The BMC can save the debug information to a debug file and send the debug file to the administrator device.

A method for recovering a baseboard management controller (BMC) by determining, by a basic input/output system (BIOS), whether a BMC recovery mode is generated by a recovery mode jumper being triggered. The system performing the method can further install, if the recovery jumper is not triggered, a BMC firmware update driver and detect, if the recovery jumper is not triggered, a BMC image. The system that performs the method can further update, if the recovery jumper is not triggered, the BMC firmware and copy to a backup image, if the recovery jumper is not triggered, the BMC firmware update.

Baseboard management controller recovery

Each of a plurality of Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) performance profiles can be determined upon a corresponding performance goal. A particular performance profile can be selected from the plurality of BIOS performance profiles. A BIOS configuration can be determined for a computer system automatically based at least in part on the particular performance profile or a hardware configuration of the computer system. The computer system can be initialized with the BIOS configuration.
