An operation method of a proximity sensor comprises: controlling a light-emitting element by a processing circuit. Such control includes a plurality of light source on and light source off operations. An optical sensor receives light and outputs a sensing signal corresponding to the intensity of the light. The processing circuit computes the sensing signal to produce a sensing result. The plurality of light source on and light source off operations includes a group having two light sources on operations and two light sources off operations. The two light sources on operations in the group or the two light sources off operations in the group are performed consecutively. In this way, the ambient light components of the light source on and off operations may cancel out each other to reduce the ambient light components contained in the sensing results.

Operation method of proximity sensor

A light sensor circuit, which comprising a photodiode and a voltage follower. By setting the voltage follower to reduce the influence from the junction capacitance of the photodiode, a required time of a repeat integration module will not be influenced by the photodiode to efficiently keep the performance and the accuracy of the analog to digital converting device when the light sensor circuit is used to the analog to digital converting device in repeat operation.

The method comprises: in a standby mode, when an output of the proximity sensor is a first sensing state, driving a driving current of the light-emitting device to comprise a first driving current; when the proximity sensor is triggered, a check mode is entered, the proximity sensor still outputs the first sensing state, and the driving current is switched to comprise a second driving current larger than the first driving current; and in the check mode, when the length of time/number of times of triggering the proximity sensor is larger than or equal to a threshold length/number, the output of the proximity sensor switches to the second sensing state, and returning to the standby mode in which the driving current comprises the first driving current.

The present invention provides an ambient light sensing module, which comprises a sawtooth signal generating circuit, an optical sensing unit, and a comparing unit. The sawtooth signal generating circuit produces a sawtooth signal. The optical sensing unit senses a light source and produces a light-sensing signal. The comparing unit produces a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal related to the intensity of the light source according to the light-sensing signal and the sawtooth signal so that the PWM signal can be used as the control signal of the electronic device. The ambient light sensing module further comprises at least a fuse for determining a processing parameter. A signal processing unit processes the light-sensing signal according to the processing parameter for outputting a converting signal. The comparing unit compares the converting signal with the sawtooth signal for producing the PWM signal. An adjusting unit produces an adjusting signal according to the PWM signal and the light intensity or according to the converting signal and the light intensity for controlling a trimming unit to trim the fuse and thus modifying the processing parameter.

Analog-to-digital converter

The present invention relates to an analog-to-digital converting circuit, which comprises an integrating circuit, a reference signal generating circuit, a comparator, and a first counting circuit. The integrating circuit integrates an input signal for producing an integration signal. The reference signal generating circuit produces a plurality of reference signals. The comparator receives the integration signal and the plurality of reference signals, and compares the integration signal to the plurality of reference signals sequentially for producing a plurality of comparison signals. The first counting circuit receives the plurality of comparison signals produced by the comparator, and starts to count the plurality of comparison signals for producing a reset signal and resetting the integrating circuit. Because the integrating circuit is not reset once until the comparator produces the plurality of comparison signals, the number of times of resetting the integrating circuit can be reduced, and hence reducing the integral nonlinearity effect. Accordingly, the accuracy of the analog-to-digital converting circuit is enhanced.
