Methods for fabricating field emission display devices. A first substrate is provided. A cathode structure is formed on the first substrate. A surface treatment procedure is performed on the first substrate with cathode structure thereon. A second substrate opposing the first substrate is provided and assembled in vacuum with a wall rib therebetween. The surface treatment procedure includes free radical oxidization and a supercritical COfluid cleaning.

A substrate structure includes a bendable substrate and an inorganic electrode structure on the bendable structure, wherein the inorganic electrode structure includes a conductive layer or a semiconductor layer. The inorganic electrode structure includes carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofibers, a nanolinear material, or a micro-linear material. The bendable substrate includes polyethylene (PE), polyimide (PI), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).

A method for prolonging the life span of a planar light source generating apparatus is provided. The planar light source generating apparatus forms an emitting layer not only on a plurality of cathodes but on a plurality of gates as well. Moreover, an anode of the planar light source generating apparatus is electrically connected to a current sensor for reading out a maximum current density when the planar light source generating apparatus operates. To operate the planar light source generating apparatus, a DC square voltage is applied to the cathodes (or gates) while the gates (or the cathodes) are electrically connected to a ground. Once the current density detected by the current sensor drops to a definite ratio of the maximum value, the external voltage supplying the aforementioned cathodes and the gates are switched. Thus, the life span of the planar light source generating apparatus is prolonged.

Method for prolonging life span of planar light source generating apparatus

An apparatus for generating a planar light source and method for driving the same is provided. The apparatus for generating a planar light source comprises an emitting layer disposed not only on a cathode electrode, but also on a gate electrode as well. Accordingly, by applying an AC voltage to the apparatus, a duty cycle of the AC voltage can reach 100% so as to enhance the brightness to the extent that the apparatus is applied a DC voltage.

An anode plate for a field emission display device (FED) is disclosed, which has a substrate; an anode conductive layer formed on the substrate; at least one interspacing conductive band having a plurality of internal gaps for connecting the anode conductive layer and external cable lines, wherein the interspacing conductive band covers a part of the anode conductive layer; and a fluorescent layer located on the anode conductive layer, to serve as a source of luminescence for a field emission display device. The field emission display device includes the anode plate aforesaid as is also disclosed.

By using a supporting spacer structure being cross-shaped or rectangle-shaped and being made of glass, ceramics or metal, and employing the vacuum absorption of a clipping arm with special design and the real time monitoring of a monitoring lens, the position-aligning is preliminarily performed on a supporting spacer, and then the supporting spacer is positioned on a required location so as to provide the supporting force needed by a display.

Spacers mounting structure and method for a field emission display

A field emission display (FED) having a grid plate with spacer structure and fabrication method thereof. A first wplate having first electrodes and electron emitters on a first surface is provided. A second plate having second electrodes and phosphor regions on a second surface is also provided, wherein the second surface is opposite the first surface. A grid plate with spacer structure and passages having grid electrodes is positioned between the two plates to maintain a predetermined interval. When a specific voltage is applied between the first electrode and the second electrode, electrons extracted from the electron emitters are accelerated by the grid electrodes through the passages to impact the phosphor regions.

This invention is an improved processing method and structure for the packaging technique of a large size field emission display. A large size field emission display includes an indium-tin oxides (ITO) conducting glass substrate, which is covered by the first screen mask and the second screen mask defined to a BM layer area, a multi-phosphor layer area and a hollow area. Each area was coated to form an Al layer, which was formed an AlOlayer through a phosphor sintering process. The spacer was fixed in a hollow area of an AlOlayer through an anodic assembling technique. The next plate was fixed on the spacer to accomplish an aligner process.

Anodic bonding of spacer for field emission display

A method of bonding spacers to an anode plate of a field emission display. An anode plate having separate phosphor regions is provided, wherein a black matrix material is provided to separate the phosphor regions from one another. A magnetic layer is formed on the black matrix material. A thin metal film is formed on the anode plate and the magnetic layer. Spacers are disposed on the metal film above the black matrix material. An electromagnetic induction procedure is performed to heat the magnetic layer and thus serves as a heating source to produce heat, wherein the heat goes through the metal film to heat the spacers. A direct current (D.C.) electric field procedure is performed to bond the spacers to the metal film above the black matrix material.

Method of bonding by anodic bonding for field emission display

Disclosed herein is an SOG (Spin on Glass) material for spacer anodic bonding, which includes: 0.1&tilde;3 wt % of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS); 0.1&tilde;5 wt % of methyl triethyl orthosilicate (MTEOS); 20&tilde;30 wt % of ethanol; 0.1&tilde;2 wt % of acetic acid solution containing alkali metal ions; and 0.1&tilde;10 wt % of water. The solid content of alkali metal elements in the acetic acid solution containing alkali metal ions is 5%&tilde;60%, and the pH value of the SOG material is 4&tilde;6.

SOG materials for spacer anodic bonding and method of preparing the same

The present invention describes a package method for a field emission display. First, a photolithography or a laser process is used to fix the location of the side glasses on the anode and cathode plates. Next, these side glasses are respectively bonded to the anode and cathode plates. Then, an alignment process is performed to generate a gap between the side glasses and the gap is filled with glass frits. Finally, the whole structure undergoes a thermal cycle to make the side glasses adhere to each other so that the anode plate and the cathode plate may be sealed.
