A liquid crystal display (LCD) includes an LCD panel, a scan driver, a timing controller and a data driver. The LCD panel includes first and second pixel rows. The timing controller determines a correction voltage index according to an absolute difference between an average of original pixel voltages corresponding to original pixel data of all pixels of the first pixel row, and an average of original pixel voltages corresponding to original pixel data of all pixels of the second pixel row, determines a correction voltage according to the correction voltage index, determines an adjusted pixel voltage in a target pixel according to an original pixel voltage of the target pixel in the second pixel row and the correction voltage, and outputs adjusted pixel data corresponding to the adjusted pixel voltage. The data driver outputs the adjusted pixel voltage to the target pixel according to the adjusted pixel data.

Liquid crystal display and driving method thereof

In a displaying method for use in an image display, an original gray scale is divided into a higher gray scale and a lower gray scale. Further, the color subpixels are divided into two groups corresponding to the higher and lower gray scales, respectively. The gray scale to be expressed by each subpixel is calibrated by weighing the original higher or lower gray scale for the pixel and the adjacent pixels and summing up the results. The color shift problem due to different visual angles can therefore be solved.

Displaying method and image display device

A liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus includes a backlight module and a LCD module. The backlight module has a plurality of individually drivable backlight regions. The LCD module has a plurality of display blocks, each of which corresponds to one of the backlight regions and is disposed on an optical path of light emitted from the corresponding backlight regions. A power regulating module is electrically connected to the backlight module and the LCD module for receiving image frame data and controlling light-emitting intensities of the backlight regions in accordance with the image frame data to be displayed by the corresponding display blocks. Each backlight regions has multiple light-emitting units for emitting light in different colors. Each display block has a plurality of pixels, and each of the pixels has multiple filter units. A transmitted spectrum of each of the light-emitting units of the backlight regions corresponds to transmitted spectrums of at least two filter units of each of the pixels in the respective display blocks.

Liquid crystal display apparatus and image control method thereof

A system comprises a liquid crystal display viewable from front and side view points, and comprising a plurality of pixels having corresponding original luminance values, a plurality of data lines in the display, a plurality of data drivers for driving the data lines, and an adjusted gray scale generator for adjusting gray scales of the pixels and outputting adjusted gray scales to the data drivers for driving the data lines.

Liquid crystal display driver and method thereof

A region-based image display device includes a backlight module, a separating unit, a signal-processing unit, and a modulation unit. The backlight module includes several backlight regions. Each backlight region includes an adjustable luminance unit. Each luminance unit has a basis luminance value. The separating unit separates an input image signal into several image region signals corresponding to the backlight regions. The signal-processing unit transforms the image region signals into several output image signals. The modulation unit adjusts the basis luminance values to output luminance values according to the image region signals. Each basis luminance value and the corresponding image region signal on the one hand, and the corresponding output luminance value and output image signal, on the other hand, cooperatively define substantially the same chromaticity and brightness.

Display device and method

A display has plural pixel groups each having plural color pixels. In a given frame that is divided into a first sub-period and a second sub-period, a first signal is provided in the first sub-period to a pixel of a given color in a first pixel group, and a second signal is provided to the pixel in the second sub-period. The first signal is set to one of a first polarity and a second polarity, and the second signal is set to one of the first polarity and second polarity, wherein the first signal and the second signal form a first sequence. A pixel of the given color in a second pixel group that is adjacent the first pixel group is driven with a second sequence of signals that is the same as the first sequence.

Drive system and method for a color display

A color display comprises a plurality of first pixel groups and a plurality of second pixel groups. Each first pixel group includes three color pixels and each color pixel has at least two subpixels. Each first pixel group has a first arrangement of subpixels. The first pixel groups and the second pixel groups are alternately disposed in at least one direction. Each second pixel group includes three color pixels and each color pixel has at least two subpixels. Each second pixel group has a second arrangement of subpixels. The second arrangement is different from the first arrangement.
