An image processing apparatus includes a region detection unit configured to detect from an image a region which is sandwiched between a pair of opposite lines and in which image formation is performed at a density lower than a predetermined density, a rendering unit configured to render a border of an inner portion inside the region sandwiched between the pair of opposite lines with a line having a density higher than the predetermined density, and an outputting unit configured to output an image in which the inner portion inside the region sandwiched between the pair of opposite lines is bordered by the border rendered by the rendering unit.

It is very important to manage digital documents and documents obtained by printing the digital documents. After completion of a conference, each participant makes an MFP read a document image of a distributed reference. The MFP searches for a data file which matches the read document image with reference to information in a storage unit, and deletes the detected data file. If the number of pages of the read image is short, the data file cannot be detected, or the read document image shows a partial loss, the MFP generates a warning. Upon reception of a collection completion message, the MFP checks with reference to information in the storage unit if all data files associated with the conference are deleted. If a data file to be deleted still remains and that data file is printed, the MFP generates a warning.

An image processing apparatus includes a receiving unit configured to receive a second image which forms a specified interference pattern when printed on a sheet on which a first image is printed, and a printing unit configured to print the second image received by the receiving unit on the sheet on which the first image is printed.

Upon searching for a digital document of a document image, if information indicating a security level 'vector conversion of objects is NG' is embedded in the document of interest, information of objects to be used in the search is deficient, thus disturbing satisfactory search processing. To solve this problem, a document image is read, and the read image is divided in accordance with the attributes of image regions. Designation of an image region whose image is to be vector-converted of the divided image regions is accepted, and additional information included in the designated image region is extracted. Search processing of a data file corresponding to the document image is controlled in accordance with the presence/absence of the additional information or the interpretation result of the additional information.
