An organic EL element including an anode, a first functional layer including organic material, disposed above the anode, a second functional layer including organic material, disposed on and in contact with the first functional layer, a light emitting layer disposed on and in contact with the second functional layer, and a cathode disposed above the light emitting layer. A highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of the organic material of the second functional layer has an energy level at least 0.2 eV lower than that of a HOMO level of the organic material of the first functional layer, and film thickness of the second functional layer is 15 nm or less.

An organic electroluminescence element including an anode, a light-emitting layer, a functional layer, and a cathode stacked in this order. The light-emitting layer and the functional layer are in contact with each other. Hole mobility of the light-emitting layer is greater than electron mobility of the light-emitting layer. The electron mobility of the light-emitting layer is equal to or greater than an effective electron mobility of the functional layer. A highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of a first functional material included in the light-emitting layer is at least 0.4 eV greater than a HOMO level of a second functional material included in the functional layer.

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an organic EL display panel in which a plurality of organic electroluminescence elements each including an organic layer are arranged on an upper side of a substrate. The method includes applying an ink obtained by dissolving or dispersing an organic material in a solvent to a preset application area over the substrate, and cooling the ink applied in the applying within a period until the ink is dried, to lower an ink temperature to a second temperature lower than a first temperature of the ink at a time of application thereof.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing organic el display panel

Disclosed is a p-type organic semiconductive material that is easy to produce and that has a high planarity in its polymer skeleton, and also provides a photoelectric conversion material, a photoelectric conversion layer, a photoelectric conversion element, and an organic thin film solar cell each having high photoelectric conversion efficiency and using the p-type organic semiconductive material. Specifically, the invention provides a bibenzo[b]furan compound having at least one constitutional unit represented by the following formula (1) or (2), as well as a photoelectric conversion material, a photoelectric conversion layer, a photoelectric conversion element, and an organic thin film solar cell each using that compound for a p-type organic semiconductive material. (In the formulae, Rand Reach represent a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, an iodine atom, an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group, an optionally substituted hydrocarbonoxy group, or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group.)

Polymerizable compound and polymerizable composition

A polymerizable compound represented by general formula (1) of the invention has good solvent solubility and excellent alignment control properties and optical characteristics.  In formula (1), Mand Mare each hydrogen or methyl; Xand Xare each a single bond, or an optionally branched C1-10 alkylene, alkyleneoxy or alkyleneoxycarbonyloxy; Xis optionally branched C1-10 alkylene; Yand Yare each an ester linkage, etc.; and rings A, B, C, and D are each a cyclic structure, such as 2,6-naphthlene.

A polymerizable optically active compound of formula (1) has high helical twisting power. When added to a liquid crystal (LC) composition it achieves required helical pitch without largely impairing the physical and optical properties of the LC composition. The compound is suited to be compounded with a LC material, particularly a cholesteric LC material for making an optically anisotropic element excellent in heat resistance, solvent resistance, transparency, optical characteristics, and LC alignment fixing ability. A polymerizable liquid crystal compound of formula (1). A novel polymerizable compound of the present invention is represented by the following general formula (I). Due to the presence of a reactive phenolic hydroxyl group at the end of the molecule, it can be reacted easily with various functional compounds and is useful as a monomer and an intermediate for various functional materials, especially as an intermediate for a polymerizable liquid crystal material.  wherein Ris a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a halogen atom; Ris an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an optionally substituted alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a halogen atom or a cyano group; an alkylene group of each of the alkyl and the alkoxy group may be interrupted by an unsaturated bond, an ether bond, a thioether bond or an ester bond; n is an integer from 0 to 14; and m is 0 or 1.

Polymerizable compounds

The polymerizable compound of the present invention is represented by general formula (1) below and can provide a composition that is polymerizable near ambient temperature and exists in a liquid crystal phase at low temperatures. The composition and a (co)polymer of the polymerizable compound of the present invention are liquid crystal substances useful as optically anisotropic materials.
