The present invention relates to methods of fabricating PCU/UHMWPE blended filaments and medical implantable structures using 3D printing of polymeric material, such as PCU/UHMWPE blend structures. The 3D printer dispenses said polymeric material in a layer-by-layer manner to create said medical implant. Polymeric material is dispensed at up to 100% infill. In one embodiment, the layer-by-layer dispensing is at a reduced speed for the bottom and top 1 to 10 layers.

One aspect of the disclosure is directed to a method for forming an antireflective coating on a substrate, which includes providing a polymer solution and a silica solution, depositing the polymer solution on a surface of the substrate to forming a polymer film thereon, depositing the silica solution on the formed polymer film on the substrate to form a silica film thereon, thereby forming a stack structure having the silica film formed on the polymer film that is, in turn, formed on the substrate, and drying the stack structure to form the antireflective coating on the substrate, wherein the antireflective coating comprises silica nanoparticles.

The present invention relates generally to methods of fabricating surface topography based on a scanned surface topography. The method converts 3D scanned surface topography data that have submicron resolution to digital formats that can be stored, manipulated, or tiled, and used as an input for replicating the surface topography with submicron resolution on another substrate. The digitized surface topography data is then converted to input for 1) 3D printing to replicate the scanned surface topography with submicron resolution, with or without a subsequent coating layer or layers to impart additional properties and/or features, 2) 3D printing a master that replicates the scanned surface topography with submicron resolution, which will be used for fast replica molding of the surface topography onto another substrate, and 3) creating a photomask with submicron resolution for transferring the surface topography to a metal substrate surface through subsequent photolithography and etching processes.

One aspect of the present invention relates to a method of fabricating a low friction, wear resistant, polydopamine/polytetrafluoroethylene layered film. In one embodiment, the method comprises the deposition of a polydopamine film on a stainless steel substrate through an oxidative polymerization process, the deposition of a polytetrafluoroethylene nanoparticle film on top of the polydopamine film, and heat treating the layered film to remove moisture and fuse the particles together.

Disclosed is a method for fabricating a low friction and highly durable coating on a solid substrate. Also disclosed is a coating that increase durability and reduce friction of a substrate. The coating comprises at least one layer polydopamine and one layer of graphite. Dip coating is used to deposit said polydopamine layer on top of a substrate and then said graphite coating on top of said polydopamine layer.

One aspect of the present invention relates to a method for fabricating a polycrystalline silicon film. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of providing a substrate having a thermally-grown silicon dioxide layer, forming an amorphous silicon film on the thermally-grown silicon dioxide layer of the substrate, forming an aluminum layer on the amorphous silicon film to form a structure having the substrate, the amorphous silicon film and the aluminum layer, and annealing the structure at an annealing temperature for a period of time in an Nenvironment with a ramp-up time to crystallize the amorphous silicon film to form a polycrystalline silicon film.
