A method for determining a bit-error rate in data received on high-speed data channel that uses a forward-error-correcting decoder includes receiving at receiver circuitry on the high-speed data channel a received predetermined data pattern, comparing, bit-wise, the received predetermined data pattern to a locally generated copy of the predetermined data pattern to derive output bits representing whether there was an error in a corresponding bit of the received predetermined data pattern, to determine error bits in the received predetermined data pattern, grouping output bits from the comparing into symbols and codewords, and for each codeword for which a count of symbols containing errors exceeds a number of symbols correctable by the forward-error-correcting decoder, counting a total number of bit errors contained in the symbols containing errors, for use in adjusting the receiver circuitry in response to the total number of bit errors.

Method and apparatus for determining bit-error rate in a data channel

An analog-to-digital converter-based serial receiver configured to tune analog equalization settings for link training is described. An analog signal from a transmitter is received and the receiver applies initial analog equalization settings. The receiver then converts the equalized analog signal into a digital signal. The receiver then measures frequency content of the analog signal and saturation at the analog-to-digital converter and determines updated analog equalization settings.

Adaptive analog equalization in ADC-based receiver

Digital serializer/deserializer circuitry includes a data path and a date eye monitoring path. The data path includes a first analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to sample incoming data at a first rate, first digital filter circuitry to filter output of the first ADC, and a data slicer coupled to output of the first digital filter circuitry to output data above a threshold. The monitoring path includes a second ADC to sample the incoming data at a second rate lower than the first rate and to take samples at varying points along the incoming data waveform, second digital filter circuitry to filter output of the second ADC, and another data slicer coupled to output of the second digital filter circuitry to output data above an adjustable threshold and to sweep through varying threshold values. Error rate circuitry compares outputs of the data slicers to determine a data eye error rate.

ADC-based SerDes with sub-sampled ADC for eye monitoring

An equalizer circuit including a filter, equalization circuitry, and a filter adaptation circuit. The filter is configured to produce a linearized signal based at least in part on a received input signal and a nonlinear transfer function. The equalization circuitry is configured to filter inter-symbol interference (ISI) and detect one or more data symbols in the linearized signal. The equalization circuitry is further configured to produce an error signal indicating an amount of error in the detected data symbols. The filter adaptation circuit is configured to dynamically adjust the nonlinear transfer function of the filter based at least in part on the error signal from the equalization circuitry.

A multiple-function valve cap is disclosed for mounting on a valve stem of a tire for indicating a safe pressure condition or a low pressure warning. The multiple-function valve cap includes a pressure indicator assembly having a piston including a safe pressure indicator, and an internal bore. A warning indicator is seated within the internal bore of the piston. A biasing spring is fitted between the low pressure warning indicator and the safe pressure indicator, and acts to urge them apart, such that the warning indicator is displayed when low pressure is applied to the piston. When a safe level of air pressure is applied to the piston, the piston is moved against the force of the biasing spring to surround the warning indicator, and the safe pressure indicator is displayed.

The pressure gauge is designed for operative engagement with a gas pressurized system such as a pneumatic tire. It includes a housing having a pressurized gas inlet orifice and a cylindrical bore formed within the housing. A pressure reactive piston is slidably engaged within the cylindrical bore, and a resistance means is disposed within the cylinder to provide a resistive force to the movement of the piston. A calibration rod is disposed proximate the piston, whereby movement of the piston will cause movement of the rod. A pressure indicator bar, which is threadably engaged to the rod, provides an indication of the pressure level of the gas. The calibration rod has a user accessible end, and rotation of the rod causes a calibration adjustment of the pressure indicator bar due to the threaded engagement of the rod with the pressure indicator bar.

User adjustable calibration feature for a tire pressure gauge

The digital air pressure gauge includes an error correction lookup table database stored within a memory device within the gauge. The database includes reference air pressure values and associated measured air pressure values, where the reference air pressure values and associated measured air pressure values are determined at identical discrete time intervals as pressurized air is input into the gauge. A transducer generates an electrical signal representative of air pressure within a device such as a pneumatic tire. A microprocessor compares the electrical signal with measured air pressure values within the database and determines a closest measured air pressure value. The microprocessor then determines the associated reference air pressure value of the closest measured air pressure value. The reference air pressure value is then displayed as the accurate pressure of the pressurized air within the device. The gauge may be disposed within a tire valve cap with an RF transmitter.

Calibration method for digital air pressure gauge

The pressure gauge is designed for operative engagement with a fluid pressurized system such as a gas or a liquid. It includes a housing having a pressurized fluid inlet orifice and a cylindrical bore formed within the housing. A pressure reactive piston is slidably engaged within the cylindrical bore, and a resistance means is disposed within the cylinder to provide a resistive force to the movement of the piston. A calibration means engages the resistance means to apply a user selectable calibration force to the piston, and a calibration means engagement means is utilized to fixedly engage the calibration means in the user selectable position. An arm member is disposed proximate the piston, whereby movement of the piston will cause movement of the arm member, and a pressure indicator means is engaged to the arm to provide an indication of the pressure level of the fluid.
