A curved liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate, a liquid crystal layer and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a column spacer fixedly anchored to and protruding therefrom. The second substrate includes a stepless preliminary contact area corresponding to a contact-making free end of the column spacer where the preliminary contact area is part of a larger and also non-stepped area. The second substrate is combined with the first substrate to receive the liquid crystal layer therebetween. The non-stepped area is dimensioned to account for shift of the where the contact-making free end of the column spacer makes contact due to the curvature of the first and second substrates.

Curved liquid crystal display panel

A display apparatus includes a display panel including a display area in which gate lines and data lines are disposed to display an image and a peripheral area which is disposed around the display area and includes fan-out lines having different lengths, and a driving part configured to output driving signals having different levels to channels respectively connected to the fan-out lines according to the different lengths of the fan-out lines.

A display device includes gate lines, data lines, first wires and second wires extending in the directions of the gate lines and data lines, and pixels having a first subpixel and a second subpixel each. The first subpixel has a first subpixel electrode and a first switching element, and the second subpixel has a second subpixel electrode and second and third switching elements. The control terminals of the three switching elements are connected to the same gate line, and the input terminals of the first and second switching elements are connected to the same data line. The first and second switching elements have output terminals connected to the first and second subpixel electrodes, respectively. The first wires and the second wires are connected in a pixel.

A display substrate includes a data line, a main gate line, and a first sub-pixel electrode formed on a base substrate. The display substrate further includes a second switching element connected to the data line, the main gate line, and a second sub-pixel electrode spaced apart from the first sub-pixel electrode. The display substrate further includes a third switching element connected to the data line and a secondary gate line adjacent to the main gate line. A liquid crystal display panel, including: a pixel electrode formed on a first substrate; an alignment layer formed on the pixel electrode, wherein the alignment layer includes an alignment layer material and aligns first liquid crystal molecules in a direction substantially perpendicular to the pixel electrode; and a photo hardening layer formed on the alignment layer, wherein the photo hardening layer includes a photo hardening layer material and aligns second liquid crystal molecules to be tilted with respect to the pixel electrode, wherein the alignment layer material and the photo hardening layer material have different polarities from each other.

A liquid crystal display device is provided, including a liquid crystal layer interposed between a first display panel and a second display panel; and an alignment film formed on at least one of the first and second display panels, the alignment film including first polysiloxanes and second polysiloxanes disposed on the first polysiloxanes, wherein a first portion of silicon atoms of the second polysiloxanes are bonded to vertical functional groups interacting with liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer, and to first pre-tilting functional groups aligning the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer to be tilted with respect to at least one of the first and second display panels by being cross-linked. The bonding structure of the first and the second polysiloxanes being different.

Liquid crystal display device, alignment film, and methods for manufacturing the same

A thin film transistor ('TFT') array panel is provided. The TFT array panel includes an insulation substrate, a gate line formed on the insulation substrate and including a gate electrode, a data line insulated from and intersecting the gate line, and including a source electrode, a drain electrode opposite to the source electrode on the gate line, and a semiconductor formed in a layer between the data line and the gate line, and having a protruding portion extending below the drain electrode, wherein a portion of the semiconductor extending towards the drain electrode, from an area occupied by the data line, is positioned within an occupying area of the gate line including the gate electrode.

Thin film transistor array panel and method of manufacturing the same

A display panel includes a first display substrate, a second display substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first display substrate includes a first base substrate having a plurality of display cells, a plurality of data lines, a plurality of gate lines, and a plurality of pixel electrodes. The data lines, the gate lines and the pixel electrodes are respectively separated in each of the display cells. The second display substrate includes a second base substrate, a light blocking pattern corresponding to the data lines and the gate lines, a common electrode facing the pixel electrodes, and a common line overlapping with the blocking pattern. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first and second display substrate.

Display panel and display apparatus having the same

A display device includes first and second substrates, and first and second alignment keys. The first and second substrates have first and second display regions and first and second peripheral regions, respectively. The first alignment key is disposed in the first peripheral region of the first substrate. The first alignment key includes a first pattern and a second pattern. The second alignment key is disposed in the second peripheral region of the second substrate such that the second alignment key faces the first alignment key. As a result, first alignment key may be formed through a procedure of forming the pixel electrode. Therefore, there exists no deviation between the first alignment key and the pixel electrode and the first alignment key may be easily detected because of the first pattern that is opaque, so that misalignment is prevented.

Display device and method of manufacturing the same

A display substrate includes a base substrate, a conductive line on the base substrate, a switching element and a testing member. The switching element includes a first electrode formed on the semiconductor layer pattern and electrically connected to the conductive line, and a second electrode spaced apart from the first electrode and semiconductor layer pattern. The testing member includes a conductive line testing portion that is formed from the same layer as the conductive line and an electrode testing portion that is formed from the same layer as the first electrode. The conductive line testing portion and the electrode testing portion have substantially the same width as the conductive line and the first electrode, respectively. The testing member also includes a semiconductor layer testing portion. The display substrate lends itself to efficient manufacturing with reduced process time and cost.

Display substrate for easy detection of pattern misalignment

A method of manufacturing a thin film transistor array panel is provided, which includes: forming a gate line on a substrate; depositing a gate insulating layer and a semiconductor layer in sequence on the gate line; depositing a lower conductive film and an upper conductive film on the semiconductor layer; photo-etching the upper conductive film, the lower conductive film, and the semiconductor layer; depositing a passivation layer; photo-etching the passivation layer to expose first and second portions of the upper conductive film; removing the first and the second portions of the upper conductive film to expose first and second portions of the lower conductive film; forming a pixel electrode on the first portion of the lower conductive film; removing the second portion of the lower conductive film to expose a portion of the semiconductor layer; and forming a columnar spacer on the exposed portion of the semiconductor layer.

Thin film transistor array panel and manufacturing method thereof

A display substrate, a method of fabricating the same, and a liquid crystal display apparatus having the same. The display substrate includes a storage electrode extending over first and second areas formed on a substrate, a insulating layer pattern formed on the storage electrode, and first and second pixel electrodes formed on the insulating layer pattern. At least one of the first and second pixel electrodes has at least one recess. The insulating layer pattern has first and second openings formed in the first and second areas corresponding to the storage electrode. Accordingly, electric short circuits between the first and second pixel electrodes is prevented due to the recess or the openings during the manufacturing process for the first and second pixel electrodes.
