The present disclosure relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium-sulfur battery, and the positive electrode active material of the present disclosure includes a sulfur-carbon composite, wherein the sulfur-carbon composite includes a porous carbon material and a sulfur-based material disposed on at least a portion of an inside of pores and a surface of the porous carbon material, wherein the sulfur-based material includes at least one of sulfur (S) or a sulfur compound, and wherein the porous carbon material satisfies one or more of the following conditions:

A surface plasmon optical waveguide includes a lower cladding, a metal thin layer on the lower cladding, low-k dielectric layers spaced apart from each other on one surface of the metal thin layer, and an upper cladding covering the low-k dielectric layers and the metal thin layer uncovered between the low-k dielectric layers. Provided are a light emitting device and an optical coupling module. The device includes a substrate, a light emitting part provided to the substrate, and a reflecting part provided to a lower surface of the substrate. The light emitting part includes an active pattern disposed on the substrate, an upper mirror provided to an upper portion of the active pattern, and a lower mirror provided to a lower portion of the active pattern. The light emitting part may emit light normal to the substrate, and the reflecting part may reflect the emitted light to a side surface of the substrate.

Provided are an opto-electric bus module and a method of manufacturing the opto-electric bus module. The opto-electric bus module includes an opto-electric interconnection unit where a concave-shaped micro structure is formed on a lower surface of a polymer structure and an optical bench where a convex-shaped micro structure is formed in a position corresponding to the concave-shaped micro structure, at least one second electric interconnection for electric connection with a semiconductor chip is formed, and the semiconductor chip and an opto-electric device can be mounted. Thus, automatic, efficient, high-speed, and high-integration optical communication and electric communication between multi-chips can be completed at the same time by using the opto-bus module which provides low-speed electric communication while manually maintaining solid optical coupling.

Opto-electric bus module and method of manufacturing the same

Provided is an optical waveguide device including: a core having a stacked structure of at least three layers in which first thin films having a finite width and thickness and formed of a material having a relatively high electric conductivity and a second thin film having the same width as the first thin films and formed of a material having a lower conductivity than the material forming the first thin films are stacked in sequence, the first thin films being disposed in a first layer and an uppermost layer and adjacent to each other for interaction of surface plasmons; and a clad disposed around the core and formed of a material having a lower conductivity than the material forming the first thin films and a higher refractive index than the material forming the second thin film. The thin metal films of at least two layers having a high electric conductivity in the optical waveguide device can generate a combined surface plasmon mode and propagate the generated surface plasmon mode in the length direction of the thin metal films. Thus, a propagated signal suffers from a smaller propagation loss than a surface plasmon mode supported by a single thin film.

Optical waveguide device

A polyamic ester (PAE) film, which shows an electro-optic (EO) and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties without a poling process, is prepared. The chromophore in the film seems to be slightly oriented normally to the film surface (transverse magnetic field (TM) direction even though the polymer solution is spin-coated. This is due to the nano-configuration structure of PAE controlled by introducing a designed chemical structure into the monomeric repeating unit of PAE. Manufacturing the relating devices can be simplified by using the self-poled polymer film as a polymer waveguide. Additionally, the EO property of the film is thermodynamically stable.

Self-poled electro-optic and nonlinear optical polymer, method of manufacturing the polymer, and film manufactured from the polymer

The present invention relates to a non-linear optical material having a dendrimer structure; and, more particularly, to a non-linear optical material having organic chromophores at the ends and formed based on ester linkages and/or ether linkages. Since the non-linear optical material of the present invention is formed based on ester linkages and/or ether linkages, it is very stable. Also, because it is a dendrimer structure, it has the properties of a polymer while having a strong connection ability at the ends, and this makes the non-linear optical material easily adopt organic chromophores easily. As it is stable thermally and optically, it can be applied to optical communication usefully.
