A variable compression ratio apparatus is disclosed. An upper connecting rod has one end rotatably connected to a piston so as to reciprocate motion of the piston. A lower connecting rod has one end rotatably connected to the other end of the upper connecting rod. A crankshaft is rotatably mounted at an eccentric position of the lower connecting rod. A control rod has one end rotatably connected to the other end of the lower connecting rod, to control the position of that end of the lower connecting rod. A control shaft is connected to the other end of the control rod, to control the position of that end of the control rod.

A balance shaft function may be realized without employing a balance shaft, when an oil pump includes an inner rotor fixed to the rotation shaft and an outer rotor that rotates with the inner rotor if at least one rotor of the inner and outer rotors has a mass center formed apart from a rotation center.

A balance shaft module according to the present invention includes a first balance shaft equipped with a first eccentric balance weight, a second balance shaft equipped with a second eccentric balance weight, and a hydraulic pump that is operated by the first balance shaft and the second balance shaft, wherein the hydraulic pump includes a first gear equipped on the first balance shaft and a second gear equipped on the second balance shaft and externally meshed with the first gear.
