Disclosed is a polarization-dependent light steering device based wide projection display system which can extend the screen projection region of an image at low cost without lowering of resolution. A wide projection display system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a projector for sequentially outputting, in a time division scheme, images to be projected to different regions on a screen; and a light steering device installed behind the projector to differently control the output directions of the images according to the polarization directions of the images. The light steering device comprises a plurality of Fresnel prism arrays having polarization dependence. The plurality of Fresnel prism arrays are stacked along the projection direction of images output from the projector.

Polarization-dependent light steering apparatus-based wide projection display system

An active random refraction device includes a random structure having the same refractive index characteristics regardless of polarization direction of light, a liquid crystal polymer on the random structure with refractive index characteristics changing according to polarization direction of the light, a polarization switching device, and a refractive surface with an inclination angle randomly distributed along the horizontal direction perpendicular to the incident direction of the light. The active random refraction device can be switched between a transmission mode and a refractive mode according to the polarization of the light.

Field of view and coherence active control random refraction device and manufacturing method therefor

A light field imaging system includes a lens configured to collect light transmitted from an object; a polarizer configured to polarize the light; a polarization switching unit configured to repeatedly switch the polarization direction of the light in first and second polarization directions; first and second polarization dependent lens arrays configured to operate as a lens when the polarization direction of the light is the first and second polarization direction, respectively, and having a staggered arrangement; an image sensor configured to obtain a first image from the light collected by the first polarization dependent lens array and obtain a second image from the light collected by the second polarization dependent lens array; and an image processing unit configured to combine the first image and the second image to generate a high resolution image having higher resolution than the first image and the second image.

Light field imaging system

An active prism structure includes: an isotropic layer made of a photocurable isotropic polymer having a predetermined refractive index nand stacked on a substrate; and a birefringent layer made of a birefringent material having an ordinary refractive index nand an extraordinary refractive index nand stacked on the isotropic layer, an interface between the isotropic layer and the birefringent layer is formed in a prism shape, and refractive index differences occurring at the interface between the isotropic layer and the birefringent layer are different according to a polarization direction of incident light. The active prism structure is configured such that the refractive index differences are different according to the polarization direction of the incident light, and thus, it is possible to change a refraction angle and refraction direction of the prism by controlling the polarization direction of the incident light.

Active prism structure and fabrication method therefor

Provided is a an augmented reality providing device including: a sensing unit configured to sense a body part of a user; a display unit configured to display an image; a semi-transparent mirror unit disposed spaced from the display unit and configured to reflect light incident from the user to emit the reflected light to the user, and transmit light incident from the display unit to provide the transmitted light to the user; and a control unit configured to determine a position at which the image is displayed on the display unit based on the sensed body part.

Device and method for providing augmented reality for user styling

Provided is an active lens structure. The active lens structure has a configuration in which a polarization switching section and a polarization dependent lens section are integrally formed, wherein a lattice structure is formed on an upper surface of a liquid crystal phase polymer layer of the polarization dependent lens section, and the liquid crystal phase polymer layer is aligned in a top-down manner and is used as a lower alignment film of a liquid crystal layer. Therefore, the polarization switching section of the active lens structure can be fabricated without any lower alignment film and any lower glass substrate, so that it is possible to minimize the total thickness and simplifying the manufacturing process.
