There is provided a device and method for retransmitting error-detected data in a mobile communication system. A transmitter generates S sub-codes C(i=0, 1, 2, . . . , S&#x2212;1) from a physical layer packet (PLP) information stream using quasi-complementary turbo codes, initially transmits the first sub-code C, and then sequentially transmits the following sub-codes each time a retransmission request is received for the initial transmission or a previous retransmission. Upon receipt of a retransmission request for the last sub-code C, the transmitter transmits the first sub-code Cand then sequentially transmits the following sub-codes each time a retransmission request is received.

HARQ device and method for mobile communication system

There is provided a data transmitting/receiving method in an HARQ data communication system. To transmit a physical layer information stream having a plurality of sub-blocks, each sub-block having an error correction code, a QoS (Quality of Service), and a priority if the sub-blocks has a different QoS, the encoded physical layer information stream is divided into a plurality of slots. The slot data are sequentially transmitted to a receiver in predetermined time intervals. If an HARQ (Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request) message for the initial slot data is received from the receiver, indicating that at least one of the sub-block in the initial slot data has a reception error and the other sub-blocks are good in reception, slot data with a sub-block having an error repeated within the number of the sub-blocks is retransmitted after transmission of initial slot data.

An apparatus and method for generating an initial puncturing matrix from which a first sub-code is produced in a communication system. The apparatus includes a turbo encoder for generating information symbols and first and second parity symbols for an information bit stream and a sub-code generator for generating sub-codes from the information symbols and the first and second parity symbols using puncturing matrices. The method includes the steps of selecting a number of information symbols equal to a number of columns in the initial puncturing matrix from the information symbols output from the turbo encoder, if a difference between the number Ns of selected symbols in the initial puncturing matrix and the number of the columns in the initial puncturing matrix is equal to or greater than a number of component encoders in the turbo encoder, and selecting a number of first and second parity symbols equal to the difference.

Apparatus and method for generating codes in communications system

There is provided a device and method for transmitting data with different QoSs in a mobile communication system. To transmit the data with different QoSs, an RLP layer divides the data into datagrams according to the QoSs, a MUX layer multiplexes the datagrams received from the RLP layer and outputs multiplexed TU data, a plurality of QCCHs for receiving the multiplexed TU data and outputs TU blocks with the QoSs by puncturing and repeating information added according to the QoSs for the multiplexed TU data, and an MQC maps the TU blocks received on the QCCHs according to the QoSs.

An apparatus provided with a plurality of transport channels, transmits a data block and a control message having control bits required in decoding data bits. A first rate matching part provided in a selected one of the transport channels, passing the data block, punctures a predetermined number of data bits from the data bits within the data block. A second rate matching part provided in another transport channel, repeats the control bits as many as the predetermined number of punctured bits.
