A separator for a lithium secondary battery, a method for manufacturing the same, and a lithium secondary battery including the separator, where the separator includes a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores, and a porous coating layer on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate. The porous coating layer includes a plurality of inorganic particles and a binder polymer. The binder polymer includes a thermosetting phenolic resin having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one aromatic group. When the separator is exposed to high temperature, due to ignition or the like, the thermosetting phenolic resin in the porous coating layer is thermally cured to form a network structure by virtue of the structural characteristics of the separator. As a result, the separator has improved heat resistance as compared to the conventional separators and shows high adhesion to an electrode.

The polymer coating layer comprises a thermosetting phenol-containing resin having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one aromatic ring. A coating amount of the thermosetting phenol-containing resin is 0.01 g/mto 3 g/mof the porous polymer substrate based on one polymer coating layer.

According to the method, a combination of binder resin composition material and an organic solvent (electrolyte) that causes low dissolution of a polymer in the resin may be selected. The selected binder resin composition material, organic solvent (electrolyte) or both may be used to manufacture a battery to prevent possible degradation of the battery due to a possible decrease in interlayer adhesion of the resin caused by dissolution of the polymer in the resin as well as a possible increase in resistance to ion flow in an electrolyte in the battery due to the dissolution of the polymer into the electrolyte.

Disclosed is a positive photoresist composition used for a liquid crystal display. The positive photoresist composition of the present invention includes 3 to 50% by weight of binder resin having a certain structure, 2 to 40% by weight of a photoactive compound and 10 to 94% by weight of an organic solvent. The positive photoresist composition according to the present invention may be useful to form a pattern for an organic insulator of a liquid crystal display, metal patterning, a bump, hole drilling and UV overcoat since it has good basic physical properties such as UV transmittance, film retention, pattern stability, chemical resistance and so on, as well as an excellent heat resistance.
