In some embodiments, the methods provided herein include administering to the entirety of the wound area a composition before the wound area is closed, the composition having a first plurality of micro-particles comprising PLGA and one or more cancer treatment drugs, and a second plurality of micro-particles comprising PLGA and one or more wound healing drugs; wherein the wound healing drugs are released for a first period of time and the cancer treatment drugs are released for a second period of time without an initial burst release.
