Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

A method of fabricating metasurface on skin for blood glucose detection, which relates to a flexible wearable electronic technology in healthcare. The blood glucose detection comprises: designing metasurface with a resonant ring structure cell, and building a model by simulating a relationship between blood glucose concentration and electromagnetic absorption property of the metasurface; preparing the metasurface on the skin; scanning the metasurface on the skin under different frequencies electromagnetic wave and acquiring a relationship curve between S-11 parameter and frequency; the change of blood glucose concentration is determined according to the resonant peak frequency shift in the relationship curve based on the model. It realizes the electromagnetic wave metasurface with a good skin biocompatibility, a stable electromagnetic property and a high glucose detection accuracy is directly structured on the skin, moreover, it can directly measure human blood glucose concentration without sampling human blood, realizing real non-invasive human blood glucose detection.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to defining a bandwidth part (BWP) within an operating bandwidth, and sub-BWPs within the BWP, where the sub-BWPs can be used for scheduling frequency-hopping transmissions. As one example, a base station may schedule frequency-hopping transmissions using two or more sub-BWPs. The base station may configure a portion of an operating bandwidth to serve as a BWP used for communicating with a UE over the wireless communication network, define two or more sub-BWPs at different frequency locations within the BWP, each sub-BWP including resource blocks provided in the BWP, and provide a scheduling gap when a frequency hop is scheduled between two or more sub-BWPs at the UE, wherein the scheduling gap accommodates radio frequency retuning at the UE.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a first message that indicates a preferred beam and a multicast session. The UE may receive, from the base station, a second message that indicates an association between a wakeup signal (WUS) and the multicast session, and a set of beams for receiving the WUS, the set of beams including the preferred beam. Aspects of the disclosure relate to user equipment (UE)-assisted beam broadening in a wireless communication system configured to employ beamforming. A UE may determine downlink channel characteristics by monitoring for, receiving, and measuring a suitable downlink reference signal. Based on the channel characteristics the UE may select a wide beam corresponding to a set of narrow beams. The UE may then transmit a report identifying the selected wide beam by indicating a direction of the selected wide beam and an angular width of the selected wide beam. An example method of wireless communication by a UE includes receiving, from a base station, a report configuration message triggering a channel state feedback procedure, the UE and the base station operating in a multiple transmission and reception point (multiple-TRP) communication mode, the report configuration message requesting a multiple-TRP transmission value including at least one of a quantity of layer indicator (LI) values and a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value. The example method also includes generating channel state information (CSI) information based on the receiving of the report configuration message, the CSI information including the multiple-TRP transmission value. The example method also includes transmitting, to the base station, a report including the generated CSI information.

A first wireless node may transmit, to a second wireless node, an indication of an orbital angular momentum (OAM) base value that is associated with one or more OAM modes. Based on the OAM base value, the first wireless node may communicate reference signaling according to the one or more OAM modes using the number of antenna elements of the antenna ring.
