Methods, systems, and devices for connection setup in an orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based communication system are described. A first device and a second device may establish an OAM communications connection between the devices. The first device and the second device may exchange a series of messages over a downlink communications link and an uplink communications link according to an OAM mode. Based on OAM related parameters or OAM related information included in the messages, the first device and the second device may achieve a successful directional alignment (co-axial alignment) between the first device and the second device. The first device and the second device may determine one or more orbital angular momentum modes for communication between the first device and the second device based on the establishing the directional alignment.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may determine wide beam parameters for beamformed communications with a base station based on an identified narrow beam. A UE may receive a reference signal from a base station and identify a narrow beam based on measurements of the received reference signal. Based on the identified narrow beam, the UE may determine a set of wide beam parameters for a wide beam that is to be used for communications between the UE and the base station. The wide beam may have a beam direction that corresponds to a direction of the identified narrow beam, and may have a beam width that is determined as a multiple of a beam width of the identified narrow beam (e.g., x times the beam width of the narrow beam).

The OAM transmitter may further transmit data on a first OAM mode of the plurality of OAM modes using first radio resources of the radio resources indicated by the RS configuration information. In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

The blood glucose detection comprises: designing metasurface with a resonant ring structure cell, and building a model by simulating a relationship between blood glucose concentration and electromagnetic absorption property of the metasurface; preparing the metasurface on the skin; scanning the metasurface on the skin under different frequencies electromagnetic wave and acquiring a relationship curve between S-11 parameter and frequency; the change of blood glucose concentration is determined according to the resonant peak frequency shift in the relationship curve based on the model. It realizes the electromagnetic wave metasurface with a good skin biocompatibility, a stable electromagnetic property and a high glucose detection accuracy is directly structured on the skin, moreover, it can directly measure human blood glucose concentration without sampling human blood, realizing real non-invasive human blood glucose detection.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to defining a bandwidth part (BWP) within an operating bandwidth, and sub-BWPs within the BWP, where the sub-BWPs can be used for scheduling frequency-hopping transmissions. As one example, a base station may schedule frequency-hopping transmissions using two or more sub-BWPs.
