Disclosed herein is system level occupancy counting in a lighting system configured to obtain an indicator data of a RF spectrum signal (signal) generated at a number of times in an area. At each respective one of the number of times, apply one of a plurality of heurist algorithm heuristic algorithm coefficients to each indicator data of the signal, based on results of the application of the heuristic algorithm coefficients, generate an indicator data metric value for each of the indicator data for the respective time. The lighting system is also configured to process each of the indicator data metric value to compute a plurality of metric values for the respective time and combine the plurality of metric values to compute an output metric value for each of a plurality of probable number of occupants in the area for the respective time. The lighting system is further configured to determine an occupancy count in the area at the respective time based on the computed output metric value.

System level occupancy counting in a lighting system

The lighting device includes a luminaire, duplex circuitry, a lighting control device to control a light output and operation of a light source in a vicinity of the luminaire, and a sound transducer integrated on a surface of an element of the luminaire. The sound transducer responds to vibrations of the luminaire element to detect incoming audio waves and generates outgoing audio waves in the vicinity of the luminaire. The duplex circuitry is coupled to electrical terminals of the sound transducer and configured to generate a first electrical signal of the incoming audio waves, and supply a second electrical signal to cause the sound transducer to generate the outgoing audio waves in the vicinity of the luminaire that are directly proportional to the second electrical signal.

Disclosed are examples of luminaires that provide light for general illumination and treat air via a biofilter. In the examples, a luminaire may include a light source configured to illuminate a space, a biofilter configured to treat air, and an air circulation system. The light source may be configured to illuminate a space in which the luminaire is located with general illumination light. The biofilter may include an air permeable membrane, a substrate, and a microorganism that treats air that comes in contact with the microorganism. The air circulation system is configured to draw air into contact with the biofilter and output air treated by contact with the biofilter into at least a portion of the space illuminated by the light source.

Examples of systems and method track a location of an asset within a space using an asset tag location estimation system, track movement of a selected user, or user's mobile device, using a positioning system, and associate the tracked asset with the selected user, or user's mobile device, based on a determination of a trajectory of the asset and the mobile device. Trajectories of the user/mobile device and the asset tag may be determined by a backend server. The trajectory of the selected user/mobile device and the trajectory of the asset tag are compared by the backend server to determine a correspondence between the respective trajectories based on a predetermined correspondence criteria. The determined correspondence indicates that a user of the corresponding mobile device is moving the asset. In response to the determined correspondence, the backend server associates the asset tag to the selected user/mobile device in a database.

The disclosure provides an example of a system including a radio frequency (RF) wireless communication network (network) including a plurality of nodes in an area and a computer coupled to the network. Each of the nodes includes a transmitter and a receiver. At plurality of times, each transmitter transmits RF spectrum signals (signals) and each receiver receives the signals and also generates an indicator data of a signal characteristic of the received signal propagated in the network. When each time among the plurality of times is a current time, the computer obtains the indicator data of the signal, determines a modification in the indicator data at the current time from the indicator data at a preceding time due to a movement of an occupant in the area and detect an occupancy condition in the area based on the modification in the indicator data and a parameter of a configuration of the network.

The detector compares the indicator data with a baseline indicator data to generate a difference value and determines a rate of change from the indicator data. The detector also determines a data metric based on the rate of change and the difference value and compares the data metric with a transition threshold to detect one of an occupancy condition or a non-occupancy condition in the area. The lighting system also includes a light source, which is controlled in response to the detected one of the occupancy condition or the non-occupancy condition in the area.
