Apparatus and methods of evaluating brittleness by measuring force applied to an electrode specimen by simulating a wound state of a jelly-roll type electrode assembly are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a brittleness evaluation apparatus includes a jig unit, a driving unit, and a measurement analyzing unit. The jig unit includes two jigs, a groove formed between the jigs, a pressing plate, and guides. The jigs facing each other and have top surfaces formed in a horizontal plane and configured to receive a specimen arranged on the top surfaces along a length direction extending between and along the top surfaces. The pressing plate is arranged perpendicular to the length direction and configured to cause the specimen to bend by descending into the groove. The guides are located on each of the top surfaces of the jigs and configured to prevent distortion of the specimen during descent of the pressing plate.

According to the present disclosure, it is possible to measure the tensile strength of the electrode under a similar condition to a winding process before the electrode is used in real winding applications.

A rotary shaft holeis formed in the first race, which has a thickness greater in its outer peripheral portion than its inner peripheral portion. According to the present invention configured as above, the communication holesare concavely formed in surfaces where inlets of the shaft holeof the hubare provided, so that the communication holescan be formed together with the hub. Thus, there is an advantage in that the compressor can be easily manufactured. Also, the first racehas a thickness greater in its outer peripheral portion than its inner peripheral portion. Accordingly, there is an effect in that the strength of the first racecan be reinforced while keeping its damping effect, thereby improving durability of the swash plate type compressor.

Disclosed are an electrode active material, having a composition of SnPx (0.9&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.98), an electrode comprising the same, and a lithium secondary battery comprising the electrode. Also disclosed is a method for preparing an electrode active material having a composition of SnPx (0.9&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.98), the method comprising the steps of: preparing a mixed solution of a Sn precursor, trioctyl phosphine (TOP) and trioctyl phosphine oxide (TOPO); and heating the solution. The application of the teardrop-shaped single-crystal SnP0-94 particles as an anode active material for lithium secondary batteries can provide an anode having very excellent cycling properties because the active material has a reversible capacity, which is about two times as large as that of a carbon anode, along with a very low irreversible capacity, and it is structurally very stable against Li ion intercalation/deintercalation in a charge/discharge process, indicating little or no change in the volume thereof.
