Disclosed are a display device for processing and displaying an image signal. The display device includes an image receiver configured to receive packetized image data of an encoded image signal or a bit stream of image data of the encoded image signal, a decoder configured to parse metadata from the packetized image data or bit stream and decode the image signal from the image data of the encoded image signal; and an HDR image processor configured to analyze HDR information in the metadata, and generate an HDR image of the image signal from the analyzed HDR information and the decoded image signal.

A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus includes an image receiver which receives an image, an image processor which divides the received image into a left-eye image and a right-eye image and processes the same, an image output device which alternatingly outputs the left-eye image and the right-eye image, and a controller which calculates a difference in a pixel value between the left-eye and right-eye images based on units relating to the pixels that constitute the left-eye and right-eye images, detects a crosstalk generating area by using the calculated pixel value difference and a preset response speed of a display panel, and controls so that the detected crosstalk generating area is displayed distinguishably from at least one other area.

Display apparatus and control method thereof

A display apparatus is provided, which may includes an image receiver which receives an image, an image processor which separates the received image into a left-eye image and a right-eye image and process the left-eye and right-eye images, an image output unit including a display panel which displays the left-eye and right-eye images alternately, a storage which stores a response speed of the display panel, and a controller which calculates a pixel value difference between the left-eye and right-eye images based on a unit of pixels that constitute the left-eye and right-eye images, detects a crosstalk generating area of the left-eye and right-eye images using the calculated pixel value difference and the response speed of the display panel stored in the storage, and controls so that the detected crosstalk generating area is indicated distinguishably from other areas of the left-eye and right-eye images.

A method and apparatus for providing a three-dimensional (3D) image are provided. The method includes receiving a left-eye image and a right-eye image, estimating an overlap region of the left-eye image and right-eye image; generating an overlap image based on the estimated overlap region; and controlling the left-eye image, the right-eye image and the overlap image to be output.
