A contrast fluid delivery method and system includes a multiple-reuse filling section for attachment by conduit to a contrast fluid supply container, and a delivery section that is removably attached to the filling section for delivering contrast fluid held in the filling section to a patient. The filling section includes a main body having a fluid chamber, a contrast fluid filling inlet with a gravity-operated valve, an opening for connecting an operable power syringe, and a contrast fluid outlet fed through a spring-loaded one-way check valve. The delivery section includes a first delivery conduit connected between the contrast fluid outlet of the main body and the fluid inlet of an inline aspirator syringe, and a second delivery conduit connected at one end to a fluid outlet of the aspirator syringe and at the other to a catheter for delivering the contrast fluid to a patient. The aspirator syringe includes a spring-loaded plunger that is operatively depressed and released to confirm and assure patency of the delivery line before sustained injection of the desired volume of contrast agent. The filling section is isolated from contamination by the downstream delivery section and may be used repeatedly for successive patients, whereas the delivery section is discarded and replaced after each patient use.

Method and apparatus for the delivery of contrast fluid to a patient

A replacement button assembly comprises a replacement button, a carrier sheet for securing and carrying the replacement button, a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet underlying the carrier sheet, and an adhesively removable backing sheet underlying the adhesive sheet. Such replacement button assembly can be easily adhered to a garment after the removable backing sheet is stripped from the assembly. The present invention also provide a process of making the replacement button assembly.

A device for stabilizing or leveling an article of furniture is formed of a deformable outer envelope enclosing a second elastically deformable envelope that is substantially filled with a filler material of a plurality of bead-like particles. The filler material particles, which are preferably smooth-surface glass beads, provide fluidic flowability of the filler material so that, when the stabilizing device is inserted and pressed between an underlying support surface and the lower support structure of an article of furniture to fill a space or gap otherwise present between the support structure and support surface, the inner envelope resiliently deforms to accommodate the redistribution of the particles and dynamically fill the gap, thus stabilizing the article of furniture on the support surface.

Device for levelling and stabilizing an article of furniture

An apparatus for dynamically filling a gap between a side of a railway train car and an adjacent edge of a station or loading platform for preventing accident or injury to passengers while boarding or alighting from the train. A plurality of flexible, flat planar sheet-like members project outwardly from a vertical platform edge surface that is confrontingly opposed to the side of a railway train car located adjacent to the platform. The extension of the projecting members from the platform is such that as an approaching train traveling along a track moves into proximity with the platform, the train contacts at least the free ends of the projecting members whereby the members are thereby resiliently deflected to assume a generally bent contour in the direction of train movement and thereby substantially fill the gap between the platform edge and the side of the train.

An exercise apparatus for performing forward and/or lateral extension type exercises has one or more grip means in combination with a guide means. The grip means comprises a handle means, such as a shaft, around which the hand can be wrapped during use, and upon which the weight of the user can be applied through the hands. The grip means also comprise a means for permitting sliding or rolling movement of the grip means within conforming guide means. These movement means may be wheels located rotatably on the handle shaft, or simply a low-friction undersurface for sliding movement. The guide means also has adjustable stop means for fixing the distance along which the grip means are permitted to move within the guide means.

Exercise apparatus

An anatomical display apparatus includes a three-dimensional model simulating at least a portion of a human or animal body and within which is located a body part, region, tissue and/or organ of interest. A plurality of images of the body part, each showing the body part in a different state or condition such, for example, as before, during and/or after a therapeutic treatment, are carried on a movable support disposed within the model. The support is selectively movable under user manipulation or control so as to transport a selected one of the plural images into suitable juxtaposition with an opening or passageway defined in and through the model and thereby permit an observer located externally of the model to view the selected image within the model through the passageway. The images are disposed in the model, and the passageway is therein defined, so that each selected image is viewable by the observer in substantially that location in the model in which the body part of interest is correspondingly located in a living body.

Anatomical display apparatus

This invention is directed to an internal expansion coupling system offering improved thrust restraint when joined to a pair of tubular members, preferably plastic, aligned in end-to-end relationship. The system comprises an elongated open ended tubular joint member formed from at least one, relatively rigid, rectangular sheet-like member, where each sheet-like member is defined by a pair of opposing sheet ends and a pair of opposing sheet sides, and a pair of sheet ends overlap such that the end portions thereof lie in close proximity to each other. The joint member is provided with a continuous circumferential gasket sealing sleeve formed of an elastomeric material and overlapping each said sheet side about the open end of the tubular joint member, where said gasket sealing sleeve is adapted to lie adjacent to and be compressed against the inside wall of said tubular member. Further, a member accessible externally thereof, as known in the art, is provided for expanding the tubular joint member. Finally, a plurality of thrust restraint members are provided and cooperate with the tubular joint member to prevent axial movement of the pair of tubular members joined thereto. Each thrust restraint member includes a plate having a plurality of downwardly extending sharp projections which override and grip the underlying end portions of the tubular members, and includes a member to apply compressive pressure between the plate and the tubular member.

An automatic open and close umbrella, that has an umbrella canopy, a hollow shaft, a driven member which is driven by means of a threaded drive shaft and has at least one radial spline extending through an axial slot in the wall of the hollow shaft, and a handle located at the proximate end of the hollow shaft containing a drive motor which powers a threaded drive shaft to drive the driven member along the hollow shaft, incorporates a manual override mechanism to engage and disengage the drive motor to manually operate the driven member along the hollow shaft to open and close the umbrella.

Automatic umbrella

A stable oxygen containing dentifrice in powder form which contains a carrier and evenly dispersed therethrough a multiplicity of microencapsulated droplets of an oxygen releasing agent such as hydrogen peroxide. The walls of the microcapsules are rupturable upon mechanical manipulation of the dentifrice as it occurs during the toothbrushing action for releasing the oxygen-containing agent.

The hand-held oral irrigating device of the invention is substantially self-contained and powered solely by an input stream of continuous flow treatment liquid, such as water from a conventional supply line. The device includes a internal turbine that is rotated by one portion of the input stream and which generates a pulsatile flow of the treatment liquid from a second portion of the stream by interruptedly passing the second portion through apertures defined in the rotating turbine. The rotating turbine concurrently operates a gear pump for mixing a stored medicament, at a rate controlled by the rotation of the turbine, with the pulsatile flow of treatment liquid at a predetermined and substantially constant volumetric ratio. The resulting combined pulsatile flow of treatment liquid and medicament is discharged through a releasably mounted appliance head or tip for use, by way of example, in cleaning the teeth and stimulating the gums of the user.

Hand-held oral irrigating device

A liquid or viscous curable adhesive composition having a prolonged pot life which is composed of a liquid or viscous curable resin which has, preferably evenly and randomly dispersed therethroughout, a multiplicity of rupturable microcapsules containing a curing agent in an amount sufficient to cure the resin. The microcapsules are rupturable upon the application thereto of external pressure, or other mechanical manipulation. Upon rupture, the curing agent is released into coacting relationship with the curable resin and forms therewith an activated adhesive composition.

Pressure sensitive adhesive composition

A hypodermic syringe assembly includes an elongated container and a cup shape molded piston longitudinal movable in the container. The container has a sidewall, a needle receiving end, and a piston receiving end which terminates in a rim. The piston has an open rear end with at least three equally spaced integral hinged tabs therearound. The piston has a first position partially inserted at the container rear where the tabs extend radially outward from the container adjacent its rear end. The piston in this position can receive a disc shaped plunger head. The piston has a second position fully inserted in the container where the tabs are rotated about their hinges and extend radially inward within the container. In this position the piston tabs hold a disc shaped plunger head within the piston. The piston has a third position partially extended out of the rim of the dispensing container. In this position the tabs are rotated about the hinges and extend radially outward sufficient to permit the plunger head to withdraw from the piston. The sidewall of the dispensing container holds the tabs in a radially inward position in all fully inserted longitudinal positions of the piston.

The walls of the microcapsules are rupturable upon mechanical manipulation of the dentifrice as it occurs during the toothbrushing action for releasing the oxygen-containing agent.

A pressure-sensitive microcapsule-containing composition composed of a liquid phase capable of solidification which has substantially evenly dispersed therethroughout a multiplicity of microencapsulated droplets of a solvent phase. The shells of the microcapsule are rupturable under applied pressure for selectively releasing the solvent phase for dissolving the liquid phase after it has solidified.
