A caulk dispenser device for use with conventional caulking cartridges and powered by expanding refrigerant liquid is disclosed. Expanding gases are released into a chamber defined in part by a housing and in part by the caulk cartridge, the plug or piston within the cartridge forming a boundary of the chamber. Discharge of the gas directly against the piston is avoided by the interposition of a deflector surface within the housing reducing the tendency of the caulk to increase in viscosity and bond to the walls of the cartridge or to tilt relative to the cartridge. The propellant liquid-gas material incorporates an increment (e.g. 5%) of perflurocarbon or like compound liquid at ambient temperatures which minimizes the cooling effect resulting from discharge of the gas. Preferably, the device is fabricated of material having a low thermal conductivity such as polymeric material to thereby reduce the cooling effect on the canister of propellant with resultant loss of pressure.

An improved flexible connector material is comprised of a pair of metal strips between which is mounted a flattened tubular configuration including upper and lower flexible sheets or layers encompassing a compressible glass wool batt. The insulation is bonded preferably to the lower layer of a pair of spaced flexible glue lines whereby the tendency of the insulation to become compressed and change in configuration is overcome.

An impact fastener especially adapted for holding batts of insulation to sheet metal is disclosed. A characterizing feature of the fastener resides in the provision of three stabilizing legs which are configured to engage the surface of the receiving metal after partial penetration and to deform in accordance with the depth of penetration, providing in all instances a stabilizing effect.

The present invention is directed to an improved resistance welding pin especially adapted for fastening of batts of insulating material to metallic air conduits, such as the ducts of air conditioning and heating systems. The pin is characterized by a novel corrugated shank portion extending between the head of the pin and the sharpened tip which functions, inter alia, to dissipate the heat generated in the shank during welding, with a plurality of attendant advantages.

The present invention is directed to an improved method and apparatus for effecting spot welds between superimposed sheets of galvanized metal. In accordance with the method, one of the electrodes is comprised of a consumable tip component, preferably a steel ball, whereby predictable and repeatable welding conditions are effected at each welding cycle. The invention is further directed to a method of effecting spot welds between galvanized sheets which includes the step of interposing between a conductive carrier electrode and the metal surface a consumable metallic increment having reduced contact area adapted to engage the galvanized sheet, the consumable component being compatible with the ferrous subtrate beneath the galvanized layer.

The invention relates to a bearing assembly adapted to be connected to a damper blade, and particularly a damper blade intended to be disposed within the duct of an air conduit used in a heating or cooling system. The assembly is characterized in that the bearing pin is supplied in a first position, from which it may be partially retracted, and after installation may be shifted to an extended position from which, if necessary, it may likewise be retracted, making it particularly suitable for installations wherein the duct interior is provided with an insulating lining.

The present invention is directed to an improved method and apparatus for effecting spot welds between superimposed sheets of galvanized metal. In accordance with the method, one of the electrodes is comprised of a consumable tip component, preferably a steel ball, whereby predictable and repeatable welding conditions are effected at each welding cycle. The present invention is directed to a method of manufacturing a support fixture for securing thermal insulation, such as glass wool batts and the like, to air conduit ducts forming parts of heating and air conditioning systems. The device comprises a metal pin weldingly connected to a planar sheet metal blank, the rear surface of the blank carrying a double faced adhesive tape, the rear surface of which is adapted to be adhesively connected to a duct. In accordance with the method of making the fixture, an improved adhesive connection is obtained between the sheet metal member and the adhesive tape by applying the tape to the blank while the blank is hot as a result of effecting the welded connection between the blank and the pin.

This invention relates to a flexible connector material of the type used in air circulating systems, such as air conditioning and warm air systems, to span the space between adjacent ducts, whereby vibration in one duct is not transmitted to the other and there is no air loss at the interface. More particularly, the invention relates to a connector material of the type described wherein thermal losses are minimized at the noted interface.

The present invention is directed to an improved integral sheet metal welding pin particularly adapted for use with automatic welding machines of the type in which pins are stored in random fashion in a hopper. The pin incorporates a shank adapted to be attached by resistance welding to sheet metal ducting, and includes an enlarged head spaced from the duct and adapted to press insulation against the duct. The improved pin is characterized by an elongated tongue portion struck from the head of the pin and lying in parallel spaced relation to the shank, the configuration of the tongue and its location being such as to prevent stacking or nesting of weld pins in a manner which would preclude their being separated for automatic feeding, the tongue also serving as a stop in the course of welding, to preclude over-melting of the shank or damaging of the insulation.
