A locking device for a pivotable cover of a vacuum cleaner, which includes at least one locking catch that engages a complementary locking means in order to lock the cover in closed position. The catch is further provided with an electric contact means which during the closing of the cover abuts a corresponding contact means in order to close an electric circuit.

In a vacuum cleaner comprising a suction fan and a motor for driving the fan, a noise reduction wall construction is provided in front of and spaced from the inlet of the fan. The wall construction comprises two parallel, mutually spaced wall panels which by means of intermediate spacer means are firmly interconnected to form a rigid unit.

In a vacuum cleaner having a disposable dust bag of the kind comprising an attachment plate of cardboard or the like, and a cover adapted to be opened for the replacement of the dust bag, a blocking device is provided which is adapted to prevent closing of the cover when the dust bag is missing. The blocking device includes a slide actuated by a spring to be moved to a first position in which the closing of the cover is prevented, and a toggle-joint mechanism adapted to be actuated by the attachment plate to move the slide to a second position for permitting closing of the cover.

An indicator mounted on a receptacle for determining the proportion of the liquid mixture components in the receptacle of a liquid dispensing apparatus, such as a rug or carpet shampoo device. Even if the receptacle is partly filled with a liquid mixture, the present indicator shows the correct amount to be added to each of the components to thereby fill the receptacle to a given level.
