A method including establishing, at a first wireless audio device, a first communication channel with a second wireless audio device, receiving, at the first wireless audio device, audio data corresponding to a user utterance, determining that the audio data includes a wake word, transmitting at least a portion of the audio data from the first wireless audio device to a mobile device via a second communication channel, receiving an indication to establish a third communication channel with a second wireless audio device, and establishing the third communication channel with the second wireless audio device.

In various examples, audio received from a source device is shared from a first wireless earbud to one or more other wireless earbuds. For example, source-device settings are shared by the first wireless earbud with the one or more other wireless earbuds to facilitate synchronization and passive receipt of data transmitted by the source device. Once the wireless earbuds are synchronized, they may check in with one another in a coordinated manner to share packets that were missed when passively listening to the source device.

Sharing audio from a source device

A system and method for network channel selection is provided. A device includes WIFI, ZIGBEE, and BLUETOOTH communication controllers. The device's processor is configured to determine, using the communication controllers, a WIFI channel designated for communications and a first set of ZIGBEE channels designated for communications. The processor is configured to determine that a number of available BLUETOOTH channels that do not overlap the WIFI channel or any in-use ZIGBEE channels is less than a threshold number of BLUETOOTH channels required for communication using a BLUETOOTH protocol. The processor then determines the WIFI channel has a minimum duty cycle from among duty cycles of the WIFI channel and each ZIGBEE channel, determines a first BLUETOOTH channel that at least partially overlaps the WIFI channel, and causes the BLUETOOTH communication controller to transmit data using the first BLUETOOTH channel.

Network channel selection for device with co-located radio transmitters and receivers

A computer-implemented method includes receiving, from an application framework, a set of tasks, a throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and a set of active connections for a radio network comprising a Wi-Fi radio and a Zigbee radio. The computer-implemented method also includes determining, using the set of tasks, the throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and the set of active connections, a target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle and setting the Wi-Fi radio to operate at the target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle. The computer-implemented method further includes monitoring, using a monitoring unit, air time statistics associated with the Wi-Fi radio, determining, using the air time statistics, a measured Wi-Fi duty cycle, and adjusting Wi-Fi radio settings to decrease a difference between the target Wi-Fi duty cycle and the measured Wi-Fi duty cycle.

Algorithm for improving zigbee reliability and latency in a multi-radio system

Techniques for detecting a voice command from a user of a hearable device. The hearable device may include an in-ear facing microphone to capture sound emitted from an ear of the user, and an exterior facing microphone to capture sound emitted from an exterior environment of the user. The in-ear microphone may generate an in-ear audio signal representing the sound emitted from the ear, and the exterior microphone may generate an exterior audio signal representing sound from the exterior environment. The hearable device may include components to determine correlations or similarities between the in-ear audio signal and exterior audio signal, which indicate that the audio signals represent sound emitted from the user. Further, the components may perform voice activity detection to determine that the sound emitted from the user is a voice command, and proceed to perform further voice-processing techniques.

A wireless headphone that receives a device identifier of an electronic device communicatively coupled to the wireless headphone and determines that the electronic device supports dynamic rate switching between a first data rate and a second data rate. The wireless headphone receives data from the electronic device at the second data rate and determines a packet error rate (PER) value associated with receiving the data. The wireless headphone requests the electronic device to transmit data at the second data rate.

Dynamic switching of data rates

Technologies directed to a process of establishing a wireless connection between two devices with out-of-band transport assistance are described herein. In one method, a first device scans for a first message via a first radio. The first message includes information that a second device is using either a first or a second set of frequencies of a page hopping sequence. The first device repeatedly sends, via a second radio, a second message according to only the first or second set specified in the first message. The first device receives, via the second radio at a first frequency of the first or second set, a third message from the second device, via the second radio at the first frequency, a third message comprising additional information that establishes the wireless connection between the first device and the second device via the second radio.

Described are techniques for preventing computing devices associated with a network from interfering with the ability of other computing devices to receive data using the network. To prevent such interference, a single device is used to receive data via the network at a given time. The devices on the network may determine priority levels based on the quantity of data remaining in a buffer or other data storage. A device seeking access to the network to receive additional data may provide a request to the device that is currently using the network to receive data. The device receiving the request may compare the priority levels of each device and cease using the network if the priority level of the requesting device is greater, or continue using the network if the priority level of the requesting device is less than that of the current device that is using the network.

System for controlling use of a network

A system and method includes a first audio device (e.g., a primary wireless earbud) connected to a second audio-output device (e.g., a secondary wireless earbud) using a first wireless connection. The first audio device is also connected to a user device (e.g., a smartphone or smart watch) using a second wireless connection. The second audio device receives data, such as packets, sent from the third device to the first device by monitoring the second wireless connection. When the first and second audio-output devices exchange roles as primary and secondary, they first disconnect the second wireless connection and establish a third wireless connection between the second device and the third device. The first audio-output device sends packets stored thereon to the second audio-output device; the second audio-output device outputs audio corresponding to these packets before outputting audio corresponding to packets received from the third device.
