A power driven tube cutter having a power source and an open end for receiving the tube to be cut is provided. A tool housing encloses a circular tube cutter and opposed rollers as well as a pair of gear trains which can rotate at different speeds. One of the trains drives tool rotation and the other of the trains drives the tube cutter. Tool rotation can be reversed for setting the cutter and rollers in starting positions, along with setting and presenting the open end for the next tube to be cut. Two power-take-offs for treating the tube are also provided.

Powered tube cutter

A tool for power cutting and treating a tube or the like, and having a power source and an open end for receiving the tube for cutting. There are a tube cutter and rollers for rotation around the tube during cutting. A tool housing encloses the cutter and rollers and also two gear trains which can rotate at different speeds. One of the trains creates tool rotation drive and the other of the trains creates tube cutting. The rotation drive can be reversed for setting the cutter and rollers in starting positions, along with setting and presenting the open end to the next tube to be cut. The rotating gears also drive two power-take-offs for treating the tube.

Powered tool for tube cutting and treating

A brazed plate heat exchanger () is provided for transferring heat between a first fluid () and a second fluid (), with the first fluid () being pressurized to a relatively high pressure. The heat exchanger includes plate pairs (), with each pair () defining a plurality of flow channels () for the first fluid (). Each of the flow channels () has a hydraulic diameter less than 1 mm. Reinforcements () are provided between each of the plate pairs () and are aligned with inlet and outlet openings () to define inlet and outlet manifolds () for the first fluid ().

Brazed plate high pressure heat exchanger

An improved heat exchanger includes a first tube () of generally circular cross section having a relatively large inside diameter and being U-shaped with opposite ends () adjacent one another. A second tube having a cross section that is relatively small in relation to the cross section of the first tube () and helical shaped section () intermediate its ends () is located within the first tube () and extends through caps () at the ends () of the first tube () to be received in headers (). The first tube () impales headers () and includes apertures () aligned with the headers () and in fluid communication with the interiors thereof.

Heat exchanger

A tube cutter and process for cutting tubes, including a housing with a gear cluster therein and with the cluster providing for two separate drive controls to the cutter and the supporting rollers, both of which engage the tube to be cut. The drive controls are arranged to be relative one to the other so that the feed of the cutter against the tube to be cut can be regulated. Regulation may be achieved by different motor speeds or by a brake mechanism. The cutter automatically adjusts radially to the tube and revolves therearound in the cutting process.

Powered tube cutter and cutting process

The operating mechanism of a tool retention and ejection mechanism for the spindle of a machine tool is located in an annular space between the spindle and the grill. A drawbar is slidably disposed in an axial bore formed in the spindle and is provided with a collet at the cutter end of the spindle for engaging a tool holder and drawing it into the socket of the spindle. The drawbar is shifted into its locking position by an annular array of balls that are forced against a bevel surface by a cam ring that is moved to a locking position by a spring. The bevel surface is formed on a ring that encircles the spindle and which is coupled to the drawbar by a crossbar that extends radially through the spindle. In order to increase the power available for releasing the mechanism, two annular pistons are provided in an annular cylinder disposed in the space between the spindle and the quill. These pistons are actuated to overcome the force of the spring and first shift the cam ring for admitting the balls to move away from the bevel surface for releasing the drawbar and then shift the drawbar to its unlocking position for releasing the tool holder. As the tool holder is being released, a flow of air travels through passages formed in the spindle into the spindle socket for cleaning chips and debris from the tool holder and the spindle socket.
