Technologies for conversational control of a home automation system include a computing device in communication with one or more home automation devices. The computing device receives text input indicative of a spoken user request including one or more parameters associated with a home automation command. The computing device matches the text input against a home automation language model including several predefined dialog patterns. The computing device resolves parameters of the command using a context model. The computing device may resolve the location, device, or requested device state of the command. The computing device generates a text response and a home automation command using the language model, and then presents the text response to the user and performs the home automation command using the home automation devices. In some embodiments, the computing device may control an application automation system or a data exploration system. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Conversational interface for matching text of spoken input based on context model

Systems and methods are introduced for evaluating the relevance of rich media material. A topic and a document are received, and the document is divided into various pieces. The relevance of each piece is evaluated with respect to the received topic, and these individual evaluations are combined in some way into a surrogate representation of the relevance.

The present invention discloses an electronic filing system for automatically organizing information into a number of storage elements or folders. The storage elements are folders arranged hierarchically. The information is stored into the storage elements based on its contents. Each storage element is associated by a set of profiles and a set of constraint expressions. The constraint expressions are quantitative measurements of the profiles. The information is scanned and its features are extracted and compared with the profiles. If the features match the storage element's profiles, the features are quantitatively evaluated to produce information expressions. If the information expressions are within the constraints specified by the constraint expressions, the information is stored into the storage element. The profiles and the constraint expressions can be adjusted to reflect the changes in the user's interests.

Method and apparatus for automatically organizing information

Text of a predetermined class is recognized in a body of text. After recognition, operations relevant to the recognized text may be performed. For example, text such as telephone numbers, telefax numbers, and dates can be recognized in a body of text. Options are provided for selecting and running operations and programs relevant to the recognized text, such as, telephone dialers, telefaxing programs, writable databases etc. Libraries of subroutines are provided for each class of text to be recognized. Each library typically includes a plurality of operations which may be run on the particular class of text. The libraries are recognized at run time of an application, so that additional libraries and operations may be added without a need for recompiling. A single class of text is recognizable in a number of formats without limits as to the origin of the body of text.
