The present technology is directed to adjustable interatrial shunting systems that selectively control blood flow between the left atrium and the right atrium of a patient. The adjustable interatrial devices include a shunting element having an outer surface configured to engage native tissue and an inner surface defining a lumen that enables blood to flow from the left atrium to the right atrium when the system is deployed across the septal wall. The systems can include an actuation assembly for selectively adjusting a geometry of the lumen and/or a geometry of a lumen orifice to control the flow of blood through the lumen.

Adjustable shunts and associated systems and methods

A system for treating cardiac dysfunction can include an expandable device for insertion into a heart, a foot configured to contact a portion of the heart, a support frame, and a membrane coupled to the support frame. The support frame can include a plurality of radially expandable struts each having a first free end configured to extend beyond the foot and a second end coupled to the foot. The plurality of radially expandable struts can include a plurality of staggered stops, and each of the stops can be positioned on a respective one of the struts proximal to the first free end of the respective one of the struts. Method for treating cardiac dysfunction can include implanting the systems described herein into a chamber of the heart.

Systems and methods for treating cardiac dysfunction

A method of preparing a ventricular partitioning device for implantation using a delivery system can include coupling the ventricular partitioning device to a delivery catheter, loading the ventricular partitioning device and a portion of the delivery catheter into a sleeve and creating a liquid-tight seal between a portion of the sleeve and the delivery catheter, coupling a distal end of the sleeve to a guide catheter, and delivering fluid through at least one of the first fluid delivery port or the second fluid delivery port. The method can be performed with the delivery catheter or the sleeve having a first fluid delivery port positioned thereon. The method can be with the guide catheter having a second fluid delivery port positioned thereon.

Systems and methods for delivering an implantable device

The present technology relates to interatrial shunting systems and methods. In some embodiments, the present technology includes a method for monitoring a shunting element implanted in a patient and having a lumen fluidly coupling cavities of the patient's heart. The method can comprise obtaining first and second radiographic images of at least two radiopaque elements associated with the lumen of the shunting element. A spatial relationship between the radiopaque elements varies according to a size of the lumen. The first radiographic image can be taken from a first viewing angle and the second radiographic image can be taken from a second viewing angle generally orthonormal to the first viewing angle. The method also includes determining the size of the lumen based, at least in part. on locations of the radiopaque elements in the first and second radiographic images.

Systems and methods for radiographic monitoring of shunts

The present technology is directed to adjustable shunting systems having a shunting element, a shape memory actuator, and a lumen extending therethrough for transporting fluid. The shape memory actuator can have a plurality of struts proximate the shunting element and a plurality of projections extending from the plurality of struts. In operation, the shape memory actuator can be used to adjust a geometry of the lumen. In some embodiments, the system is configured such that (a) any strain in the shape memory actuator is concentrated in the struts, and/or (b) the struts experience greater resistive heating than the projections when an electrical current is applied to the actuator.

Shape memory actuators for adjustable shunting systems, and associated systems and methods

The present technology includes systems and methods for invasively adjusting implantable devices for selectively controlling fluid flow between a first body region and a second body region of a patient. For example, in many of the embodiments described herein, a catheter can be used to mechanically and/or electrically engage an implanted medical device. Once the catheter engages the medical device, the catheter can (i) increase a dimension associated with the medical device, such as through mechanical expansion forces, and/or (ii) decrease a dimension associated with the medical device, such as by heating a shape memory component of the medical device above a phase transition temperature.

Adjustable implantable devices and associated methods

The present technology relates to intracardiac sensors and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, the present technology includes a device for monitoring pressure within a patient's heart. The device can include an implantable capacitor having a capacitance value that is variable based on the pressure within the patients heart and a sensing circuit configured to measure the capacitance value. The device can also include an implantable inductor and a power circuit configured to wirelessly receive power from an external source via the inductor. When the device is in a first configuration, the capacitor can be electrically coupled to the sensing circuit and the inductor can be electrically coupled to the power circuit. When the device is in a second configuration, the capacitor can be electrically coupled to the inductor to form a resonant circuit.

Intracardiac sensors with switchable configurations and associated systems and methods

Described herein are implant delivery systems and methods for controllably deploying an expandable device in a ventricle, the left atrial appendage, or other portion of the heart of a patient. In some embodiments, the implant delivery system includes means for loosening or releasing a suture on a perimeter region of the expandable device in order to control the expansion or contraction of the expandable member. In some such embodiments, loosening or releasing the suture expands the perimeter region of the expandable device to secure the expandable device in the ventricle of the patient, while tightening the suture contracts the perimeter region of the device. The system may include one or more monitoring devices to monitor aspects of the heart, such as hemodynamics.

Positioning, deploying, and retrieving implantable devices

Described herein are implant loading and delivery systems for treating heart failure. An implant loading system may include a funnel having a flared first end and a second end, such that the flared first end is configured for receiving and collapsing the expandable implant, and a sleeve removably coupled to the second end of the funnel and configured to transfer the expandable implant to a guide catheter. The expandable device may have a foot for contacting a first interior wall portion of a heart, a support frame including a plurality of radially expandable struts, and a membrane coupled to the support frame. The expandable device may be coupled to a delivery catheter. An expansion member coupled to a distal end of the delivery catheter may apply pressure to the support frame of the expandable device to move the expandable device from a collapsed configuration to an expanded deployed configuration.

Apparatuses for treating cardiac dysfunction

A delivery system for delivering an implantable device can include a delivery catheter, a sleeve, and a guide catheter. The delivery catheter can have a tubular body having a proximal end and a distal end, such that the distal end of the delivery catheter is configured to couple to the implantable device. The sleeve can define a lumen configured to receive the delivery catheter and the implantable device coupled thereto. A first fluid delivery port can be positioned on the delivery catheter or the sleeve. A mechanical seal can be coupled to the sleeve and configured to form a liquid-tight seal with the delivery catheter. A guide catheter can have a tubular body having a proximal end, a distal end, and a second fluid delivery port positioned thereon, wherein the proximal end of the guide catheter is configured to be connected to a distal end of the sleeve.
