The present invention relates to a liquid bleaching composition comprising a bleach and a substantially linear nonionic surfactant, whereby said substantially linear nonionic surfactant has the general formula: R&mdash;(A) &mdash;(B) &mdash;(C) &mdash;O&mdash;R wherein: R is an even numbered C to C alkyl chain or a mixture thereof, containing at least 90% linear alkyl chains; A is an ethoxy unit; B is a butoxy unit; C is a propoxy unit; x, y and z are independent integers of from 0 to 20; the sum of x&plus;y&plus;z is at least 2, wherein when x is equal to or greater than 1. y&plus;z is equal to or greater than 1; and R is H, a C to C alkyl chain or a C to C alkyl benzene chain. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of said substantially linear nonionic surfactant in a fabric bleaching composition comprising a bleach to treat a fabric whereby stain removal and/or bleaching benefits are provided.

Bleaching composition comprising substantially linear nonionic surfactants

A process of treating fabrics comprises the steps of forming an aqueous bath comprising water, dissolving or dispersing a conventional laundry detergent therein, adding a liquid composition comprising a peroxygen bleach, a builder and a modified polycarboxylate co-builder and subsequently contacting said fabrics with said aqueous bath. Furthermore, the use of a builder and a modified polycarboxylate co-builder in a laundry additive comprising a peroxygen bleach to treat fabrics, whereby stain removal and/or bleaching benefits are provided, is also claimed.

Process of treating fabrics with a laundry additive

The present invention relates to a liquid or solid bleaching composition comprising a peroxygen bleach and an alkoxylated benzoic acid or a salt thereof. This bleaching composition shows excellent immediate chemical stability and excellent chemical stability upon storage. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process of treating a fabric and/or a process of treating a carpet.
